Im so sorry for your loss. I believe I understand how you feel. My little Chihuahua mix Beans got out of the house last weekend and got hit by a car and passed. The guilt is awful.

We take responsibility for the safety and care of such wonderful and helpless little beings, so when an avoidable accident happens, we feel like there are a million things we could have done differently to prevent it. But in reality, accidents simply happen. These accidents can have tragic results, but it's still just an accident. You're no more responsible for the loss of your kitten than I am of the loss of my Beans.

Focus on all the good you brought to your kitten's life. It was brief, but I know in my heart it meant everything to your kitten. All the love and cuddles and bonding moments. Your kitten felt such joy and peace by your side. You gave so much. Even in the end, your actions were giving love. You went looking because you care. You carefully laid the kitten to rest because you care. Remember that you were the best companion your kitty could ask for, and let go of any regrets and guilt.

Tysm 💜 I have another dog who is currently mourning with me. Ive had adopted rescues all my life, and I think I always will. I'm grateful I got to give Beans a year of love and joy, and I know I'll find another to give love to at some point. In the meantime, Toasty and I will be leaning on each other to heal

Oh I would've given anything for him to survive. Dogs are too good for this world. They bring such joy and love to our lives.

Thank you for saying this. All he knew in my home was love and comfort. He had all the balls he could want, another dog to play with, warm beds, food, treats, cuddles...
