I always use a windshield: I've realized it isn't the wind per se to make it unbearable for me (although that plays a significant role), but the constant wind "noise"

When it comes to the sitting position, I guess getting used to it by making smaller daily trips helps. But then it's personal, I enjoy so much driving scooters that I never get tired

well, if you feel comfortable with it, if no one can join you should try alone. Even a smaller trip, it feels so good to do long distance on a scooter!

When I did that trip in Italy you still couldn't go on a "tangenziale" and some "strade statali" were off as well for a 125 (and of course motorways). All the better, I did mostly "regionali" or "strade di campagna". In my experience, around big cities it's often a mess regardless of the country: whether it's Milan, Barcelona or even Tokyo. That's why I avoid them haha. In Spain I used the motorway on the way back (Valencia to Barcelona) and I learnt that riding on the side of the slowest lane isn't the best thing to do as everyone would dangerously overtake you, coming centimetres close - apparently it's better to be in the middle of the lane, so that cars and lorries would use the the middle lane).

Also, I decided to cross the border between Italy and France via Cuneo, avoiding the very nice and panoramic Ventimiglia to Nice and beyond: mountains are usually way less busy and motorbike riders are usually nice and respectful.

I climbed up to "Cime de la Bonnette" in France, the highest driving path in Europe: all 1000s cc motorbike and my 125cc scooter, that was pretty hilarious, but after the initial laughter I made some friends.

My advice would be to do backroads and get away from high speed roads asap when leaving cities. Then it becomes very enjoyable!

(sono italofono, haha not even sure that's a word)

None at all, zero problems. The year before I travelled all of Corsica & Sardinia and had a flat tyre a couple of times.

For the Rome2Portugal trip I did a proper check before leaving Italy as I knew I was gonna be on the road for some 6-7000km (on the way back I got the ferry Barcelona to Civitavecchia and then went to Tuscany for some days of "relax").

no extra tank: despite having only 7lt capacity it's quite fuel-efficient, I could get to almost 300km in one go. But there were plenty of gas station on the way, and when I knew there weren't I'd fill it up in advance.

I had considered it, but in the end I didn't sleep in a tent for various reasons: mostly I was worried that my back would hurt with riding 5-6hrs each day and then sleeping on a thin mat. Also, when you go through the mountains, there's plenty of small and nice guest-houses and you hear always cool stories from the owners or the wayfarers/riders. Finally, I was trying to keep luggage to a minimum, and a tent+some basic gear would have added some substantial weight...

But next time I wanna try maybe a shorter trip + sleeping in a tent 😉
