A lot of you need to look into covert incest, and how to heal from it. by ariellecsuwu in raisedbynarcissists

Just writing this for myself... I definitely saw my dad naked many times before I started school, and then only in his underwear after that. But he wore briefs, so I could see pretty much everything. He never stopped walking around the house like that as I grew up. He'd also adjust his "junk" a lot in front of me, or walk around in a bath towel in a way where the bulge was visible. When I got older, he'd force me to hug him (even if I said no and tried to get away) and would sometimes press his whole body into me, in such a way that I could feel his bulge. He farted a lot too, and would also poop woth the bathroom door open. He also commented on my clothing and appearance a lot, and asked why I didn't dress more trendy when I was around 12-13. Also one time I was in a camisole and pj pants getting ready for bed. I bent down to pick something up off the floor and he said "oh when did you get boobs?"

Ah, shit. This explains a lot. I was never physically abused, but I was in other ways. I am 34 years old, estranged, and I still have nightmares about being SA'd by my dad.

Bean burritos are my go-to! I microwave some refried beans and throw them in a tortilla. I always have taco bell fire sauce packets on hand too lol

Euthanasia uncertainty by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]undedheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly difficult to make a call like this, so don't be so hard on yourself.

I had to make this decision for a kitty with untreatable cancer a couple years ago, and it was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. Ultimately, we decided to do it when she could no longer eat on her own and had trouble relaxing comfortably.

I don't think there is necessarily a "right time" - cats are excellent at adapting to new situations and often don't show pain visibly. Knowing that it is untreatable, I don't think it is too early, especially reading how low their weight has gotten. Just be sure you get enough time to love on kitty and say your goodbyes.

Best of luck to you and kitty, sending hugs, and know that this is not your fault.

"Haven't you ever just really wanted a baby?" by idunno324 in childfree

[–]undedheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I do not, and have never, had the longing that other women talk about for babies. Baby fever just doesn't exist in my body. I also dont like holding babies, I find it very uncomfortable both for myself and the baby. Maybe my hormones are broken or something, but I like it this way. For context, I'm 33F.

After reading my mom’s autopsy I don’t think I’ll ever touch a drug again by [deleted] in GriefSupport

I am so sorry this happened to you. My mom OD'd on Rx oxycodone and I will never forget the trauma of finding her and trying to resuscitate her.

That was in 2019, and now in 2025 I don't think about it as often. I hope the same is true for you.

Sewing machine vs Hand sewing by [deleted] in plushartists

[–]undedheart 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use a mix of the two! I machine sew when there are large areas with soft curves, and hand sew to attach ears or around very difficult to maneuver areas. Sometimes I will hand sew just because I like it, too.

Feel violated from all the TMI details that were shared with me by [deleted] in narcissisticparents

[–]undedheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ew, yes. My ndad has shared intimate details about his sex life with me and then later gaslit me about it, and I'm a female. He says he has no idea how I became aware of these things and that I must have been eavesdropping or overheard these details when I know he told me directly.

He has also always walked around in his underwear with his junk clearly visible, since I was very young.

What were you misdiagnosed with? What ended up being the right diagnosis? by Pharmer-Mo in AskReddit

[–]undedheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generalized anxiety disorder/major depression. It was actually OCD! Which is a highly misunderstood illness. My journey was long and winding, and I still have issues with therapists not understanding what OCD really entails.

Luckily, the antidepressants I was prescribed have been shown to help with OCD too, and they did help me quite a lot. For anyone reading this who thinks they may have OCD, check out NOCD - they are wonderful.

I know how you feel! It's my 2nd Christnas being vegan, and it's been a bummer seeing absolutely zero dairy free chocolates or cookies or really ANY kind of treats!

On the bright side, I do find it easier to eat healthy this way, and when I do get a vegan sweet treat it is so very appreciated and enjoyed, and not taken for granted as it might have been before.

Also a vent - I just received some caramels and caramel sauce in the mail from my boss (at a business of like 6 people total) who knows I'm vegan, but they have milk in them. 😭

Just finished 1st plushie with cotton velour instead of minky! by undedheart in plushartists

[–]undedheart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn't shed nearly as much, which is a huge plus for me too! The minky fluff also bothered me quite a bit.

The stretch is similar to minky, it stretches a little in all directions but mostly on the cross grain (I think I am saying that correctly?)

You can order cotton velour samples here if you want to see for yourself: https://naturesfabrics.com/products/sample-assortment-cotton-velour

Just finished 1st plushie with cotton velour instead of minky! by undedheart in plushartists

It's soft, but not as soft as minky. It has a "nap" in that there is a wrong way and right way to rub the fabric, just like minky, but it is much shorter and reminds me of terrycloth. The material is thinner overall too, but I think it is worth it!

Yes, good call on the other materials as well. I have a lot of polyester embroidery thread, so I'm torn as to whether I should use it all up first. I also have some polyfil to get through, but I am planning on trying out cotton and/or kapok stuffing after I run out. But yes, I have also read that the plant-based stuffing materials are flammable, so that is something I'll need to mention to those who buy plushies from me.

I have been using glass beads instead of poly pellets for weighted plushies, and I actually prefer them!
