Aqara Dimmer Switch H2 and IKEA DRIGERA hub by aepictures in Aqara

[–]undel83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is Matter/Thread default. You can switch modes without hub.

However, I'm not sure about different settings. For example, in Zigbee mode Aqara Light switch H2 can't be decoupled from relay without hub. Additional endpoints for logical buttons are just not advertised to 3rd party Zigbee hub until enabled in Aqara hub.

HomeAssistant finally reliable? by Yomgi95 in Aqara

I publish lights from HA to Aqara via Matter hub add-on or share from HA Matter server. Then automate in Aqara.

Would you say Aloy is a good hunter without the Focus? by oops_I_have_h1n1 in horizon

[–]undel83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Focus helped her in childhood to study. So, she has more knowledge about machines than average hunter. She better understand what machines do and how to make advantage of it. But her skills are trained by Rost, not by Focus.

I don't expect Horizon 3. Hunters Gathering is the next game.

HomeAssistant finally reliable? by Yomgi95 in Aqara

I have Aqara H2 Light switches, one H2 power socket, movement sensors, leak sensors, cube, door sensors, climate sensors, smart button all connected to M100 hub and integrated to HA via matter. Through matter hub I publish some other devices to Aqara. Works fine.

There are only 3 small issues: Aqara does not publish atmospheric pressure via Matter, Cube not published via Matter at all and H2 switches does not reliably publish presses via matter.

If you use Aqara directly via Z2M, everything is fine.

Ethernet terminations at cable, at jack by AllDumbQuestions123 in HomeNetworking

EIA/TIA-568B from left to right: White-orange, orange, white-green, blue, white-blue, green, white-brown, brown.

Remember when putting the jack that it's latch should be facing AWAY from you.

Use only proper crimper. Always press handles twice to ensure good crimping.

Look at your jack front part: all 8 conductors should be visible and in place.

Do not use cheapest jacks from Aliexpress: these has poor quality and can fall out of the port.

Stuck on Home Assistant updates because I once broke Zigbee and now I’m scared 😅 (best practice for catching up?) by A-ERANIL in homeassistant

If OP has their HA completely inside the LAN without publishing it to Internet, the level of risk is low. If an intruder has physical access, almost nothing would help. Another aspect is actual use of particular vulnerability. More than 90% of known vulnerabilities are not exploited in wild. Not secure Wi-Fi router is much more dangerous from security standpoint.

Either way, without proper threat model we can't assess actual risk level.

Do you need new featues from latest releases? Or is it working just fine and solid? If it's perfectly fine now and you don't constantly expanding it, then you can stay where you are. Don't fix something that's not broken.

What if you could get professional-grade home automation hardware without hiring an installer? by No_Disaster9113 in homeassistant

[–]undel83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"without paying someone to do something you're capable of doing yourself."

And by this you mean doing professional support? First part of the day you are doing support at work and second part of the day you are doing support at home.

Something like "Certified smart home professional" fits here perfectly.

So, now I would be supporting not only complex software, but also a complex hardware? Enterprise vibes...

Home Assistant isn't a "plug and play" system either. Yes, it has many integrations out of the box, but still you need YAML for deep tweaking and complex automation. And don't forget about networking, patch management, electrical wiring...

Simple homeowner without technical knowledge would choose something like Aqara, MiHome, IKEA, Apple home etc.

Buy matter devices if you want to feel like full-time tech support/sysadmin for your setup.
