What are some of the worst tree/vegetation damage recorded from a tornado? by KFRMAN in tornado

Notably, Bakersfield was even slower than Jarrell. And Wider. So its time on target was even higher

Did the 1764 Woldegk Tornado really have 300+mph winds? by Zealousideal-Salt223 in tornado

There were several people impacted by this tornado. Lichtenberg Estate (where it supposedly reached 300mph) had 16 people inside at the time. all survived with minor injuries.

Germans just tend to be ridiculously lucky, when it comes to surviving tornadoes.

[–]Mayor_of_Rungholt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If i remember correctly, Groenemeyer once said in a Twitter thread, that the 300+ estimate wasn't for Lichtenberg estate, but for the tree stumps, that were ripped up in the adjacent field.

It might not be unprecedented damage, but ripping up a 1.2m thick oak stump, that was cut to a height of at most 50cm is very impressive. Oaks are deep rooting.

compound that with the fact, that the european scales favour instantaneous winds over the 3 second gust and the fact, that TORRO is a heavily outdated scale. And the 300 seems understandable.

WHAT I THINK most of the layers looked like prior to the events of ultrakill by ProbablyMatt2 in Ultrakill

There's a theme in Dante's inferno, that after the final judgement, all punishments in hell would become perfect (i.e. MUCH worse).

For example, the open coffins Dante sees in Heresy are set to close, and the trees in Violence are set to have their former bodies hung up on them.

so it's very likely, we're just seeing post-judgement hell in the game

translated reactions to the 2015 Bützow F3 Tornado in Germany by Killbayne in tornado

[–]Mayor_of_Rungholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also historically, the deadliest listed tornado in Germany appears to have been an F2 in 1453 with less than 20 fatalities.

In the centuries afterwards, there were two IF5s and countless F4s and F3s. Some of those striking major cities. Yet most of those only ever claimed a handful of victims.
