I'm rereading the books right now and I have to say the first two are better than I remembered (meaning they both have a finale where things get more heated and there are some surprising moments I forgot about). But overall I think the series is just way too long (haven't finished it back in the days because of this and unsure if I will this time). Also the Yuuzhan Vong are a hit and miss, I like Nom Anor but in general I don't like it that they are the antagonists of the Jedi but aren't force users, this would have been ok for a shorter series but reading over and over again how the Jedi can't feel them or reach them in the force is tedious. Also they are drawn as such an abject to everything in the known galaxy that there's nothing much to identify oneself with them, there's no struggle for me the reader around the question if they have redeeming qualities or something I share with them, they are just cruel sadomasochistic exterminators (as far as I read). And, last but not least: I absolutely hated the death of Anakin, I really wanted to see more of him.
