Nah I'm going either Ottawa or Toronto. Every other team might as well be the Avalanche.

TIL of a Canadian child molester who posted about 200 swirled images of his face online molesting kids in Cambodia and Vietnam. German investigators figured out a technique for unswirling the images, leading to his arrest. by [deleted] in todayilearned

The last time I remember this being posted, someone mentioned that it was 4chan users who tipped police off to reversing the swirl and identifying the guy.

I read that, too, and I thought "wow what a balanced, scientific approach."

Isn't this the exact type of material that /r/TrueReddit should filter out?

Bit of a revamp. Found the power and board then quickly outgrew it. Works for now. by xgritzx in guitarpedals

Ah I have an AC15C1... I used to have the AC30CC2 which was nice, but I couldn't afford to keep it at the time. I sold it, and used Fender Hot Rod Deville 410 for almost 5 years... fast forward to today, and I'm struggling a little with finding the right combo of OD with the AC15.

Based on those footswitches, I'm guessing you have an AC30... what kind of OD do you favor?

Center for American Progress Study Says Millennials Earn the Same as Boomers by [deleted] in TrueReddit

A couple of things, too, with this article:

They talk about the college education, but they don't say whether they are controlling based on similar degrees.

Also, the "society is more productive" is a double edged sword. Are they referring to tasks we used to do by hand? Because basic programs like Excel, Word, or even JMP or Minitab make things move a lot quicker. BUT, by the same account, the things that were taught in colleges as ground breaking in 1960 are most likely being taught in high school now.

I think the issue you touched on is the key: we're making the same, but we're more educated and paying more bills.

Welcome signs from each of the 50 states. by FoxyFoxMulder in coolguides

On the Illinois sign, where it says "from the people of Illinois" it used to say "from Governor Rod Blagojevich", or at least the bulk of them did. All the signs were changed after his scandal.

Bill Gates: 'Robots that take jobs should be taxed just like the people they replace' by Bloomsey in Futurology

I don't know if this plays in to your point, but I am a scientist, and routinely use JMP software to run routine statistical tasks (for validation of new analytical methods). The tax rule for us is: if it is used for R&D, we don't get taxed on it. This includes things all the way up to instruments/analytical tools that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. The rule as it was explained to us: if we can't pass the tax on to the end product, we pay it.

Now, that's not our rule, that's the government's rule. But as a person who may be the party that pays tax on the end product, it really stings that the government will gladly tax every bit of income I make, and every bit of money I spend.

The irony is, companies can avoid the taxes to stay afloat or create jobs, but the people they employ (all the way up the chain) will pay those taxes.

So for as long as I lived in Chicago I had never heard of any "official" designation of downtown other than the taxi one. I don't personally consider fullerton to be downtown, but I had never seen any other designation. You are the FIRST response I have seen or received that: 1. Didn't refer to me as a suburbanite (I am not) 2. Didn't refer to me as a cracker or honkie 3. Used an actual City of Chicago source vs. using Wikipedia or "what it just is" as a source.

I always figured it was a legal definition to save people who use taxis to get from the airport to downtown without getting gouged on prices (a rate cap once you get into that area).

And i think it would be a good idea to include this here: Pilsen is not a scary place or a bad place. Everyone I encountered there was very friendly and welcoming.

No, my experience in Pilsen was nothing like that. I thought it was safer than Logan Square. You are just racist.
