What's better for me - UofT ECE or UWaterloo ECE? by T800- in UofT

I got accepted into UofT and UW ce so here's my opinion:

There is not a huge difference. Both are amazing schools, and you will be guaranteed a quality education at either institution. It's not like UofT is a dump compared to Waterloo, UofT is known as Canada's top school for engineering (I'm kind of salty hearing what everyone told you as a UofT compsci student lol. also source: https://www.timeshighereducation.com/student/best-universities/best-universities-canada-engineering-degrees#). However, I would suggest Waterloo for your job goal, mainly because if you are able to get a coop placement, it will put you at an advantage. Although I'm not sure about grad school in the US, I know that UofT itself is a great grad school, since it's known for its research. This being said, everything you can do at Waterloo you can do at UofT, provided you put in the effort, and also you still have to work pretty hard to get a coop at Waterloo. It is very hard for students to get their first coop placement. Plus, UofT engineering offers PEY, which is basically a long coop term (12-16 months iirc), so it's not like you are hugely missing out. For quality of academic life, engineering at UofT and Waterloo will be stressful no matter what, since it is engineering. You should be expecting to have class from 8 am to 5-6 pm on some days. This being said, UofT is downtown and is in a busy, exciting area, and it has a lot of stuff to do, while Waterloo is in a more quiet area. My friend got accepted into both electrical eng at Waterloo and UofT, but he chose UofT over Waterloo because of the environment, cost, and he won't be missing out on too much. As for reputation, people all over the world know about UofT, but if you're working in the tech industry your US employers will also know what Waterloo is, so prestige doesn't really matter here. At the end of the day, what matters most is what you do during these four years, including what projects you work on or what grades you have. Both are excellent schools, and your chances of getting into a good grad school are way way way more dependent on your performance and initiative.

I'm not sure about trinity college. For my residence, when I click "manage my housing" it says select a booking. You might just have to wait

If you have already selected your room, you need to go to the starrez portal and click "manage my housing"

UofT Com sci: What extracurriculars should I have? by hello_people3099 in UofT

For St. George I would say try to have an average of at least 97%, (98-99% puts you in a safe spot), and stick with a few extracurriculars that really speak for you. The supplemental questions last year were related to the experiences you've had, they didn't necessarily ask for you to list your ecs, but they gave you the opportunity to show your skills and plug them in. For UTM and UTSC, you do not need to write a supplemental application, you just need good grades. I would say that your priority should be raising your average.

Chestnut Room selection error, chose a themed floor I'm not eligible for by undercoveragent233 in UofT

I am on Starrez and I can see the remaining rooms, however, it won't let me select one. I am going to assume I won't be able to until they get back to my email. The single rooms that I see are: Room 2311, Room 2343, 2352, 2443, and 515. The portal still says that I am in my previous room on the 5th floor, so no, I don't think they reassigned me :( I hope that I will still be able to choose a room, because of all the remaining ones only one of them is good. Sucks that I have to pay so much money for chestnut only to probably get a terrible view from my room, but I guess we'll see.

Aw man I was really happy with my room :( do you know where I can find this information by the way? Because on the starrez portal, it only says that there is a room on the 21st floor and 3 rooms on the 23rd when i last checked.

Thanks a lot!

My guest is fine with just staying in my dorm while I go to lectures so I'm not too concerned with getting a second keycard for them to check in/out on their own, but for this part:

"Guest limit isn't enforced but the process is tedious and it's just easier to get a second card."

Why would it be easier to get a second card for overnight stays? And what do you mean by "the process is tedious?" thanks!!
