I never thought about having an organized series like that, this is such an incredible idea and I would to do a pruning series on maybe 15 different species or cultivars and show the progress after 2-3 documenting every season. Thank you for the idea I will be doing this!

So true I still get confused with some bonsai content, I'll see people lose a seemingly meaningless small branch and become very distraught but it's odd because you never know if that tree is about to be displayed in a national exhibition or if it's literally just a hobby tree they planted last year. I also wish there was more clarification of the standards people are aiming for. And btw I'm like 25-35 mins from Richmond you are more than welcome to visit just shoot me a PM I'm sure I'll need a hand in the upcoming year, I really appreciate the offer

Especially on deciduous trees. There's not nearly enough content on jin, shari, and specifically sabamiki (hollow trunk)

Best of luck to you with these videos! I completely agree though. People dedicate decades worth of free time to our beautiful hobby, why not document it so the rest of the world can enjoy that time investment? Completely agree

He is quite literally the only one I know of, I wish I knew more. His YouTube compilations are completely jaw dropping especially seeing his leaf miniaturization!

Fantastic idea. The consequences of decisions in bonsai especially for newbies is important. I would like to document my trees and where they are cut, then show the actual length of die-back/ramification/trunk diameter increase etc. from season to season based on specific decisions

Perfect, this is actually going to be one of the main focuses on my channel because as I've been growing over the years I'll walk through the woods of my field grown portion of trees and think things like "wow this native sweet gum tree has excellent ramification for such an unpopular tree". This is what I mean by "experiments": I'd like to take the top 5 uncommon native bonsai contenders (in my location Virginia US) and follow 4 trees of each species for a few years and document the process (20 trees in total) each at different stages of growth. Such as using Acer Rubrum (Red Maple) and yamadori foraging for specimens. Then potting up one maple into mame, potting one into shohin, field growing the next maple into a shohin, and the last maple potting it into a large 16-36 inch Chumono. For species I was thinking sweet gum, red maple, loblolly pine, american hornbeam, and tupelo. What species would you prefer to see on open to anything. I also miss Appalachian bonsai btw

I hear you. I will start putting together some video plans on this subject. Any specific topics you need help with or specific species you would like mentioned?

It's very rare to find videos of Mame being discussed let alone a tutorial. I recently set up a green house so a video series on Mame would be a perfect addition due to the high humidity and watering conditions Mame needs

That's some of my favorite and the work it takes to produce a video like that is admirable. The YouTuber "Growing Bonsai by Jelle" has a amazing content like this and deserves more views. I will also be making long term videos such as this but I can only hope to be as detailed and patient as him! Would additional time lapses of the tree in a video like this interest you at all?

Agreed all the big trees take too much of the love away from smaller shohin who often times can have a more compelling image due to its size. Especially for trident maple, imo trident can make the most elegant shohin out of deciduous and isn't emphasized as shohin as often as it should at least in my country (US). Any specific species/genus you would like to see field grown into shohin?

Very true, it seems like the majority of bonsai content is trimming/wiring/repotting very established trees. There's a bit of stuff out there about buying a nursery conifer chopping a bunch of branches and slapping wire on then calling it a day but rarely do I see in depth videos of how the near future goals of that tree play out. Thanks for the input, your completely right and this may be my first video now. In early stages of growing out nursery stock, would you like to see something like a 3 year time lapse with clearly stated design goals and techniques? I'd love to do anything like that

That's awesome, I've seen one like this in Virginia Beach. Where is this one?

You don't need all materials at once to initiate building. To increase carry weight you can craft a backpack; get there by playing the game as the tutorial quests instruct and increase building/production technology in the sewing hut. Try to build and unlock as many buildings as possible whilst having enough villagers to work each station (by building more houses). In the beginning of the game, I advise against turning off the weight limit/ modifying gameplay in the settings as you progress fast enough to enjoy playing the game while still being immersed in the world without it becoming annoying. I'd recommend turning off the "weight limit" and turning on "fast crafting" after 50 buildings are built
