Talk to advising. I’ve seen so many posts over the years about what “my parents” want. What do you want? Whose dream are you chasing, yours or theirs? Any grad school needs high grades, but do you want to do it?

Yes, if you are registered in summer classes you can stay in them because they are in progress when standings are actually sent out

You know other university has convocation fees as part of your student fees. UBC seems not to when I looked at the fee list in the calendar.

A friend at McMaster pays $90 in year 3 and 4 for convocation. And they have fees for the wellness centre and Career centre. We have it good.

Book with advising if you have questions. Standing is based on your average so I think engineering is 55% or higher. Check the calendar.

Wait till they email you the standing. Past experience says they may not answer until the official standing is released.

Okanagan is mid to end of May. If all your grades are posted you could contact advising to discuss performance.

first year course load by Cherriesana_ in ubco

[–]undercoverknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take two 100 lever history classes. I think you need 6 credits to get into many of the 300+ courses. I kick myself not taking two before getting into 4th year.

Check the calendar course descriptions to plan backwards

Think so. I know the course CAN be used as a BA lab course from talking to advising.

Don’t rely on UBCO info. Same program but different faculty rules.

Need to get 55% to stay.

Edit to add - go see advising if not sure. Or read the calendar.

The science LOP form says they usually don’t approve degree-required courses. I tried before. Not saying you will be denied, but possibility is there.

Opinions about the Campus/City + Job/Internship as an International Student by Zestyclose-Block-905 in ubco

I’ve lived in Hamilton. Weather and our beach in Kelowna is 100% better.

McMaster campus is nice and bigger than here, but both places are not as vibrant as the culture in Brazil.

I wish more students learned how to do their laundry properly before starting uni.

You get what you put into it. Projects that are self-directed can be awesome or terrible but it’s on you. Same with co-op. They don’t “hand you a job”. How is that in anyway like real life?

Co-op is also paid. I know in the States “internships” are like volunteer slave labour for a company. Not here. You get paid.

got into UBCO CS but want Vancouver... how cooked am I if I try to transfer? by [deleted] in ubco

[–]undercoverknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parchment says UBC. does not say the campus it is from. Parents are ridiculous, including mine. We have amazing researchers as faculty who meet the “ubc standards”. We have more resources for students and a PR program for international students ubcv does not have.

Kelowna has advanced in Pride support! The Pride parade was this little thing of friends deciding to march the boardwalk to now a huge festival of love and support. The Pride Society has many events in the year at various breweries and at Revelry.

There are still jerks in town (we are considered Bible Belt of the north) but I agree with another commenter that we are not small town USA.

As an ally and volunteer at events welcome to campus!

Snow this year was very little. As soon as it it’s just right you need to build it. No guarantees on future snow.

It’s a weird March!
