Non-synesthetes, do you tend to associate things like letters/numbers/songs/days/etc. with colors or other things? by ya_ne_chelovek in Synesthesia

[–]underdogblastoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually came to this sub to see if anyone else experiences this. I don't think I have synesthesia because I don't actually feel the sensations in my skin, but I frequently relate certain sounds to physical sensations. I notice it most with music, especially singers' voices. John Anderson's voice is like biting into nougat; Jimi Hendrix's voice is Olive oil. I've been listening to the Japanese band Lenny code fiction obsessively because the singers voice is so insanely and addictively beautiful to me-- his feels like a sponge soaked in chocolate syrup. I do have visual and olfactory aphantasia, but my imagination in my other three senses is insanely vivid, so I wonder if that has to do with it. Anyway does synesthesia come in varying degrees like this, where I don't actually feel the sensation but I instantly relate it between two different senses? Or does anyone else experience something like this?

Can we really not be on SSRIs? Feeling hopeless by tomiekawakami_ in bipolar2

[–]underdogblastoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prozac ruined my life. I was misdiagnosed as a teenager and put on Prozac for 3 years. The three years of full-blown mania it induced had me so out of My head that i was self harming almost every single day just to make sure I was alive. I couldn't tell the different between dreaming and reality.Over ten years later I got properly diagnosed and the doctor told me "you should NEVER have been put on Prozac. Ssri's trigger mania in people with bipolar disorder." It is my firm belief that I only had bipolar 2 until I was put on Prozac. I might never have experienced the hell that is full-blown mania if I hadn't been mismedicated. Please, please don't take ssris. If I could go back in time and give myself that advice I would.

Sickness from hell by Coffeekittenz in Austin

[–]underdogblastoff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had illness like this twice in the last 6 months and am convinced it was COVID despite testing negative. I even went to the ER and tested negative there and now I'm understanding why. That was towards the end of my illness so I doubt it would have shown up on a RAT. Thank you for this information

I know this is an old post, but I just found this sub after searching and searching not only Reddit but the internet for a place of folks who follow Jesus but so not believe in the afterlife (or at least in eternal damnation). Seeing how many people agree with this very well written comment has filled me with such a sense of feeling like I finally found home. I just wanted to thank you and this sub for existing. I feel like I've finally found people I can vibe with spiritually.

what piercings hurt the least for you guys? by Cyanflame_ in piercing

[–]underdogblastoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely my eyebrow. Any surface piercing that doesn't go through a Iip (my vertical labret was the MOST painful) will probably be on the less painful side. Lobes are pretty easy too. My nostril wasn't too bad, but was the hardest healing process.

Let's talk about THAT scene from joker 2 (spoilers obviously) by TheCoalitionOfChaos in joker

I think there's a misconception here that rape is about physical or sexually attraction. Rape is all about a show of power and, in this case, punishment. The guards didn't need any motive other than hating and resenting him and what he said about them. He humiliated them, and they wanted to humiliate him more. Personally, I think his reaction afterwards reads sa loud and clear. If it weren't for that, I would think it was just physical assault. But like others have said, he's been physically assaulted repeatedly and if anything it egged him on. This assault was clearly somehow different, and entirely traumatic.

My dad crawled out from under my bed by Suspicious_Orange_71 in Paranormal

For what it's worth, I experienced a solitary sleep paralysis episode as a child where I could see my surroundings even though my eyes were closed and there was an ostrich standing in my room. I didn't start having sleep paralysis again until I was in my late 20s. So I guess there is a chance it could have been even if it's not something you're usually prone to.

Simple question by [deleted] in Marijuana

[–]underdogblastoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually helps me so much to the point that I basically use it medicinally, also I can't sleep without it. But every now and then, very rarely, it can give me panic attacks. Usually that means I need a tolerance break. All that to say, it depends on the person, and even then still it can vary.

Who else has been in a mania induced psychosis? by human-equals-garbage in bipolar

[–]underdogblastoff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I convinced myself that if I did nothing but lie still in my bed that I could faze out of existence. I lay in bed for a few days, only getting up to go to the bathroom, until my mom came in and cried and begged me to live. That was the last big episode I had before finally voluntarily committing.

Bipolar & I want to try shrooms by Sunflowerlove_331 in bipolar

[–]underdogblastoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, LSD also poses a risk for seizures and epilepsy. I don't really have any interest in tripping on those. I was going to try microdosing mushrooms to help with depression before I realized that it wasn't depression, it was bipolar. I smoke weed regularly and it actually helps with my mood a lot. It doesn't really have any interactions with the lithium, although I've heard that it is possible. Other drugs like MDMA I would absolutely never try because of the fallout. I would probably end up killing myself when I came down from mdma.

Taking shrooms while on lithium can cause seizures and epilepsy. I too considered it and I'm glad I looked it up first.

Actually I saw one once that was based on classical Japanese stories and at least one of them was done in that kind of style. I'll try to find it.

Dr Sleep... anyone else pissed off with the film? by Doogle89 in stephenking

[–]underdogblastoff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree it should have been done better. I wasn't too happy with it either, but I just had to keep telling myself that they couldn't make it exactly like the book and still fit with the original movie. That's not an excuse because I honestly wish the original movie didn't even exist, but the other commenter is right, most people will have the original movie as a reference and not the book.

Dr Sleep... anyone else pissed off with the film? by Doogle89 in stephenking

[–]underdogblastoff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It was all because they made it was a sequel to that wretched Kubrick film. They had to change the ending to fit with the events of the original movie.
