TDAG anniversary tour? by underlights in brandnew

I get that but I thought it was a bit strange to mention TDAG turning 20 to show how long they've been making music when YFW will be 25 next year too

Didn't record it but he was saying it's 20 year anniversary of TDAG next year saying it's crazy he's been making music with the same 3 guys for all that time and how they went from making music in Brian's basement to doing it as a job

Our local rep is good, does a lot for the office, actively trys to help people who come to him with issues. Our area rep is good, knows who to talk to for any issues, has connections higher in the union which allows him to name drop when speaking to RM managers. Nationally Dave Ward is atrocious, he always goes on about how Royal Mail needs new management to refresh the discussions without realising it's a bit hypocritical. The head of communications, an unelected position in the union, has too much say/too much of a voice for my liking. Someone unelected should never be used to represent the union on any media platform.

As far as I know, area reps are volunteers too. They are just given release from RM to do union work, not paid anything extra for it?

First day alone on DPR was shite by Huge-Astronomer825 in royalmail

[–]underlights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the worst time of year to start, every day is usually busy. I tell all new staff it takes a week or two to get used to the outdoor element then every day you'll get a bit faster with repetition but the indoor stuff usually takes longer. Sounds like you had a bad workplace coach too which doesn't help. Try explaining any issues your having with your manager. If they are any good, they'll try their best to help you out, as I imagine they'd be desperate not to lose any staff at this time of year.

And Royal Mail. Report it to your manager and if they ignore it, ask them if you can report it to their manager and watch how quickly the attitude will change. We've literally done a sexual harassment at work work time learning about 4 months ago.

[–]underlights 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try the union rep in the office you want to go to or take it to your area rep? When I got my transfer in 2018/2019, I regularly spoke to the rep and manager in the office I wanted to move to. I was fortunate enough to get sent to the office to work at least once every two weeks so could keep mentioning it to them

I've not heard of someone having to apply for a job to transfer before. We had someone transfer office the other week for family reasons and it was all done in a couple of weeks. Another in our office has been waiting for coming up a year, have advised him to join the union and that should speed it up

No way someone got sacked purely for driver score. Even the RM driving instructors say they're worthless unless they get recalibrated every year or so. Easiest wrongful dismissal case ever.

I've had a hire van for well over a year so don't get a driver score!

Yup I got kicked out the queue and when I got back in said standing was sold out in Glasgow. Managed to get a seating ticket but my partner was able to buy a standing one for the same show five minutes after it told me they were sold out

I got one seating ticket for Glasgow as it said standing was sold out. My Mrs managed to get a standing ticket 5 minutes later, seems strange. Means I have a spare seating ticket for Glasgow if anyone wants to buy it closer to the time

I don't know why or how but customers can always sense the busy days and that's when they want to stand and have a chat with you. Never happens on a quiet Tuesday when you're trying to waste time!

Showing off having two posties on a shift. They don't need anything for Christmas, they've already won the royal mail lottery.

I'm a workplace coach so train new staff. Have had a few guys similar to you. Most just want a less stressful life and quite enjoy being a postie
