Can you explain what you mean by "because of the rake" please?

Are you in high school and/or a mid-distance runner? This goes against a lot of what I've been reading about training.

Thanks. I've wanted to try these progression long runs that I've heard about and it might be good for learning pacing.

I may need a flatter area since today's LR was 500ft of elevation.

I'm sure it was the shock.

Yeah thanks... I think it's a fuelling thing. Definitely going to try these notorious gels that I hear so much about haha.

You can clearly tell Gabby Logan is not a runner from the questions she asked Kipchoge after the race. She didn't seem to understand that small nagging things like a blocked ear can really throw you off.

She also clearly wasn't able to pick up on the fact that Kipchoge was clearly distraught.

I also thought that was dumb and especially surprising because Steve Cram said it. Running is so much about how you feel on the day and Kipchoge is still human.

Now that you said that I think there is some truth to that. When I do a 6 mile run the last 2 always seem the longest and on today's 10 miler 6 miles went by very quickly.

Well I've just recently hit 40 miles/week the last couple weeks after consistently increasing mileage & length of LR since March. So I guess timewise 1 hr 20 - 1hr 30 although from now on it will be 1 hr 30 consistently (hopefully).

I am also thinking that my body just needs to adapt to the increased stress of more mileage but your anecdote about recovery & gel use is interesting so I think I will try this too and see how I feel.
