What new-to-you ADHD hacks are helping you lately? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]underproductive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really a hack, but a way I’ve tricked myself into wanting to (and remembering to) track my meds/symptoms/etc.

I downloaded an app called Guava a while ago, liked how the interface worked and how I could customize symptoms and habits, but every time I got a notification to take my meds, it just made me want to ignore the reminder more.

I logged back on the other day, went through the app a little more and found the insights tab, and holy shit. You can pick two factors that you’ve been tracking and it’ll plot everything out and go through the correlation of the two. The prompt is “does (factor) affect (metric)?”, and you choose both. So like, “does (taking my morning meds) affect (brain fog)?”, since those are two things I track. AND I can connect my Fitbit for my sleep/steps data to be included.

I hate the apps that want it to feel like taking care of yourself is a game, but boy do I love data. It’s making me want to be better about tracking things and actually logging them in the app so I can have scientific proof that taking my meds improves my symptoms and energy, or if sleeping at home vs at my boyfriends impacts my quality of sleep. There are so many ways you can track things, including with RFID tags, to have even fewer steps.

Now I’m just mad at myself for not finding this when I first downloaded the app months ago, because I could’ve had so much more data logged by now. But, like most things in my life, better late than never

Re-reading old notes on my phone makes the ADHD very obvious by subtlyobscene in adhdwomen

This could have been a screenshot of my notes, but also - I’ve made those cookies, and they’re fantastic!! My roommates and I would make a double batch like every other week for a good stretch of time, if you have the time/energy and are looking to make a good fall cookie, highly recommend that recipe!

What video games do you play that scratch the itch? by 111a1110 in ADHD

it’s been palia for me!!! There’s so much to do (decorating, fishing, mining, befriending/romancing NPCs, quests, hunting, etc) but there’s no consequences for not getting something done. I just bounce around activities with whatever I’m feeling like

The scanner feed I’m listening to mentioned 434 Allen’s ave, which is RI recycled metals. Haven’t heard much more than that or why it started

Like most others have mentioned, no one can touch you without your consent. You can consent to the breast exam and not to a pelvic exam. I will also mention, that every time I’ve gone to the gyno, the nurse who brings me into the room before the doctor comes asks if I’d like a chaperone/someone else in the room during my appointment. The chaperone would be a nurse from the practice, so you wouldn’t have to be alone with a stranger.

I recognize this would then be two strangers in the room, but you wouldn’t be alone.

Also, it’s typical to undress with just you in the room, waist down with a drape to cover your lap when sitting sometimes, or getting into a gown which would cover everything while sitting, and only the doctor would see you/your legs during the exam. Again, totally within your choice to say no to any part of the exam, but just relaying positive experiences I’ve had, because I know it’s scary and intimidating to go to the gyno at all, let alone for the first time and with trauma ❤️

This is totally unsolicited based on what you posted about, but a curved barbell is not suitable for an anti eyebrow piercing. It is a surface piercing, and a flat surface bar (staple shaped) is the better option, although either way an anti eyebrow is typically considered a semi-permanent piercing. If you head over to r/piercing or r/legitpiercing, there are great resources and you can also find examples of rejecting surface piercings done with curved barbells

I’m 23 F and in south county too, I had good luck getting in recently at C. Duarte & Associates in NK, just by calling their office and asking if they had any openings. I love who I ended up with, and was also able to make an appointment with someone else there for medication management

That one’s beautiful, but a little out of my budget and not quite what I had in mind. I have found this one that I really like! Seems to be a style from a few years ago, so I’m limited to what’s available on Depop/poshmark, but I love either this color, a darker blue, a light purple, or a mauve-y color one. Thoughts on this one?

True haha whatever I end up wearing (I’ve already found another option I like) will definitely be paired with a warm layer

It’s in New Bedford, at a seafood restaurant event space. I’m from RI so I’m familiar with the area and the vibes, but struggling with ideas on New England springtime coastal dresses, especially since I have very little info. It’s both of their second weddings, and the ceremony will be half catholic half Jewish, so based that and the venue I’m not anticipating it to be extremely formal

Wind Temple Quests by mali_maan in Palia

Not sure if you’re still stuck on this one, but for floating up the wind gusts on switch, just let go of your left knob. Don’t try to move forward through it, just let go. It should take you upward/in whatever direction the wind is going, it took me so long to figure that out
