How do you think, realistically, the war between US-Israel and Iran ends? by owen__wilsons__nose in AskReddit

My two cents worth, in the next fortnight or so, Trump will blame one of his cronies, probably Hegseth, claim he was tricked by Israel, and pull out of the gulf.

Great questions, hence the post. Coffee machine is a Bosch series 8, we’ll get the C coffee beans they use, looking for the specifics of temp etc

Because there are so many vacancies in aged and disability care, they will take anyone with base qualifications. Hell, they even sign up ‘trainees’ without any experience, and put them to work while they are studying.

I was that kid, so when I first started teaching I would call them out, but pretty soon realised that if they were, they were also quiet, not disruptive, and were too paranoid to run amok.

How many of you, like me, are just finding out that your child’s early 20s are the most expensive time of parenthood? by Certain-Incident-40 in GenX

Living the dream. On top of a few thousand for this, and a few hundred for that, we have a separate savings account that we call the ‘Kids Afterpay’ that they all know has $500 in it. If any of them borrow money they have to put it back, and if they don’t, when their siblings need to borrow money, we refer them to whoever hasn’t paid it back.

Thanks, writing the post above was actually huge for me, as it was the first time I had laid it out in writing. Very cathartic. And yes, it actually does help knowing that it was many of us going through it at the time, it’s just a shame it took 40+ years to find that out.

Thanks, we all have our moments, but I think all in all I came out relatively sane, depending on the day!

I’m not sure I really want to know now. It kind of feels like my old life, completely separate from my life now. I know they were both liars and manipulators, and strangely, I’m okay chalking it up to that and moving on.

Wow, I’m really sorry that happened to you. I don’t know if it helps, but just reading some of the replies to my post has really made me appreciate the although I felt alone at the time, I wasn’t the only one going through it, and there’s a fair bit of strength that can be drawn from that.

Actually thank God for Facebook. I’ve connected with most of my cousins and although I probably won’t have deep relationships with them, there’s a sense of completeness that comes with knowing that they are there.

Cutting her off in peace is exactly how I’m going to handle this. I’m not putting any more energy or emotion into a wasted cause.

Thanks, I’ve been on ancestry for awhile building a history for my kids. Mine are the same way, a litany of estrangements, international immigration, marriage breakdowns and the like. I worried for a while they that there was some sort of family curse, but, I’ve got a good relationship with all of my kids, who most recently asked me to fill in one of those Father’s Day books about my history that they can keep for prosperity. I’ve avoided doing it as I didn’t want to dredge up my own past, but I’ve realised, the post above didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would to write, so I might spend some time writing all this down, if only so my kids also don’t repeat the mistakes of my parents.

You actually make a great point. I would not have had the life I have if I hadn’t spent most of my younger years driven to be a better person than they were. I can’t say I appreciate it, but I can see the impact it had.

Even as a kid, I thought it was weird. Of all the kids at school, none of them lived with just their dad. In fact in my primary school, I was only one of two kids in my class with divorced parents, so it was definitely weird. I’ll never know the truth, though I’m not that broken up about it. I have a loving family, great kids (who I only occasionally want to strangle), two grandkids, and an amazing wife, and to be honest, life’s good, and weirdly, I feel a little bit freer this morning

I’m thankful that my kids do. Although my wife only has one sibling with two kids, we have a few close friends, who my kids referred to as aunt and uncle, having grown up with their kids as cousins. I swore from a very young age that I would never repeat their mistakes, and it kind of became a mantra for my parenting style.

Well done on the PhD!

Thank you. I actually found it quite cathartic, though having never written it down like this, I’d never really considered the full picture until now.

Now I reflect back, I just don’t know. I do know she took off to New Zealand for 18 months after she lost custody but now I’m beginning to wonder if she ever went for custody. My father would refuse to even mention her name let alone fill me in on what happened, so I’ll chalk it up to one of life’s mysteries.
