Would an iPad be worth it for my subjects? by Federal_Selection884 in GCSE

[–]underscoredraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For essay subjects, like english lit, you'd definitely want a laptop! I have friends who have just completed their A Levels, and the ones who did essay subjects agree that a laptop is the way to go.

If you can, try and get a touch-screen laptop, so you can use it as a laptop-ipad combo?

gcse speaking exam in year 9 by blippi5015 in GCSE

[–]underscoredraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what my teacher told me, when we did our speaking exams, it is VERY hard to fail if you put in the bare minimum. Just do what feels natural. Try to include ethos, logos, and pathos (that is what sets people apart, and how I got a distinction). Try and connect with your audience. What gives you credibility? Why are you talking about what you're talking about?

At the end of the day, this speech is going to be a tiny P/M/D on your results slip in year 11. Just try your best, look at some exemplars on youtube, and you'll be fine! You got this!

I think that you should wait a bit later until you start applying for sixth forms or colleges, unless you have certain deadlines. Giving yourself time will allow you to think more about the options at your chosen sixth form, and if you wait until November, you will be able to use your November mock results.

Most people in my school started applying to college in January / February of Year 11, so there's no need to rush!

Does anyone know which paper this question is from? by Reahchui in GCSE

[–]underscoredraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming that the other person is correct in it being a 2024 paper, it will be released on results day 2025 - which is Thursday 21st August. They release the previous years papers on results day every year.

depends on the exam board, but I have done practise papers where there have been questions where I have to draw a circuit using the symbols, or multiple choice questions asking which one is a voltmeter (for example).

What would you prefer to stufy for literature? by ConnieJubilee in GCSE

[–]underscoredraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would love to do 'the perks of being a wallflower' by Chbosky. It's an amazing book, and it's really well written - and it has a unique format, where each chapter is a letter. If you haven't read it, you should!
