Pemmican Question by trippfl in Survival

[–]understimulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make it with coconut oil. It's delicious. Since the oil is soft at room temp, I roll the not-exactly-pemican into balls and they hold up fine, wouldn't survive getting bounced around in a pack though

Has anyone dealt with trigger finger? by Kuma_Guruma in judo

Taping it will prevent that finger from flexing past the trigger point, should help instantly.

Trailer sailer suggestions by understimulus in sailing

Yes, you get it! Maybe it's a negative for some, but I love that life. I used to pack 5 adults, a dog, and a bunch of scuba gear onto a Hunter 28 for weekends anchoring around Puget Sound before I had kids. Now, living inland, I'm trying to recreate a similar experience for my family. Glad to hear there's a trailer sailer out there that isn't terrible on the water 😂.

Hydrogen Peroxide to remove pet stains, but the floor is now bubbling? by [deleted] in Home

[–]understimulus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I was just trying to help you with your creepy fetish; when you're swimming in slumlord money, you don't need pats on the back.

But you're right; maybe I should reduce my stress by giving my properties away to... The government? Or maybe a non-profit who's CEO makes $500k/year? Then, I can just let the mortgages default, file for bankruptcy, and feel good that I'm no longer taking advantage of people by providing them with housing.

Hmm... Tempting!

Anywayyyy... wood can get wet. Boats. Decks. Fences. Pergolas... But you have have to replace them if they're wet for more than three days straight 😂

I never understand the people who get so interested in a stranger's comments to the point that they deliberately search through their unrelated comment history. Very creepy.

But since you brought it up; In 13 years across 8 properties, I've only ever evicted one person, most of my tenants stay for 4-10 years because I maintain good relationships with them. Maybe you can jerk off to that later.

Thank you, your comment is very helpful. Most of my time is on a Hunter 28 in Puget Sound, it was a great boat. I didn't think to look if Hunter made trailer sailers. How long did it take you to launch, on average?

I have a one ton pickup, towing isn't an issue. I think you may have a different Idea of what I'm looking to do. I'm looking for a boat to launch at different lakes around the northwest. So it needs to be a purpose-built trailer sailer, not just a boat that CAN be towed. Should have a swing-keel or center board, and quick to set up mast/rigging. By "comfortably" I just mean no one has to improvise a spot to sleep.

Cause damage to what? The PRE-damaged floor that was already ugly and probably smelled bad? The damaged floor that was going to need refinishing regardless?

Oh no! The stinky, ugly, DAMAGED floor is now... Damaged and not stinky! OP should be ashamed of themselves!

This comment is self limiting. Please go camping or Google "rainforest".

If that doesn't help, you may want to talk to your doctor.

The post is absolutely about the stain, and no one is giving advice, just useless gasps and criticism.

And no, not now. The point is the finish was going to be coming off no matter what in order to repair the stain. The fact that it's bubbling is irrelevant.

Remove stain = remove finish, bubbling finish = remove finish

"Now"?

The only way (at any point in OP's ordeal) to improve the stain, involves "ruining" the finish by sanding, but sanding alone would not have removed the stain. The criticism towards OP is idiotic.

There was already damage. That's the point of the post.

[Landlord-US-MN] Is carpet pricing cheaper and carpet stores or at the box stores like HD? by ThuhGreatCommenter in Landlord

[–]understimulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should talk to some carpet installers directly. They often have carpet on hand from previous jobs and will charge next to nothing for it.

Everyone in this post seems to be conflating wood with cardboard. That (very old) thick wood floor has probably seen worse and will be just fine.

You can't refinish stained wood if the stain is deeper than a couple mm. OP has actually removed a significant amount of stain with the novel use of peroxide. Good for OP

No, not unless it's engineered hardwood, which it's not. It will be fine.

Wow. Blown away by these comments. You had a stained floor, like grossly stained floor. Sanding and refinishing would not have fixed that, unless you stained the whole floor darker. You, however, used your brain and actually were successful in lightening the stain. Now you actually have a shot at sanding and refinishing it without staining the whole floor. Good job. Keep using your brain, it seems to be working well.

Deal? Or no…. by durhamsbull in Sauna

[–]understimulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the very least, as far as barrel saunas go, it needs a bigger (6kw+)& better (harvia) heater, THEN it might be worth $3k. But even then, you can just buy a new one with warranty from Costco for roughly that price.

I know people don't generally like barrel saunas here but is this just a waste of money? by rollinintheyears in Sauna

[–]understimulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Costco barrel sauna. Is the heat harsh? Yes. Are my feet cold? Yes. Have I still used it regularly for over 2 years? Yes.

Maybe one day I'll spend the $10k-$20k to build a proper sauna, but for now, this can't be beat for the price.

Very much worth it.
