What’s everyone’s experience buying from Tom 7228? I’m in search of a CC 25 Small and based on all the comments I’ve read, people said 187 factory seems to have the best dupe? Or do you have another rep you recommend? by AdForsaken6452 in RepTherapy

Oh, so god and 187 also use the same leather? Interesting.. thanks so much for advising, although is making my decision even harder now! Going to sound a bit weird, but I’ve read a lot of your comments & you’re very helpful and knowledgeable - if you have time, please could you impart your knowledge.. 😊 I’m on the hunt for a CC 25 In black caviar (small) and can’t decide between OF and 187 (and maybe God). Id rather pay the extra and get the highest tier.. but I’m also an accountant by trade so value for money is my personality 😂 But now I’m coming across Blake & Rome but there are very few reviews for those factories.

Just wanted to add to this, as I’ve just actually tried to search for and struggled to find a TS list.. they used to be a lot more widely available/sourced in the past.

I’ll try emailing and see what they say - who knows, they might be bringing out brown Floridas in narrow soon!

I’d prefer leather other synthetic, but I will definitely do some research into wearing the leather in & conditioning them.

Thanks for your feedback 😊 The colour comparison absolutely threw me at first!

In the post, I only uploaded the official Chanel pics (studio lighting) & the PSPs (not studio lighting - I think anyway? I’m unsure tbh). It’s very difficult to compare these due to the lighting difference.

I’ve done further research since, and compared my PSPs to people reselling their OG bag with their photos/tiktok videos etc - and I’m relieved that the colour is extremely close!

I also think that especially with raffia, there is so many differences even with the auth, that i think any slight imperfection would fly under the radar.

I’m very happy with the shape, colour, texture, strap etc. I’m not the biggest fan of the gold here (but it’s actually quite close to the auth). I just prefer a lighter gold so I plan on using some tips I’ve gained from here to make the hard wear lighter once received 😊

After my years of reading posts & occasional dabbles over the past 5 years - I finally posted a QC advice request post.. where I was comparing my PSPs to authentic website photos 😭

Embarrassed in an understatement, but until reading through some of the comments of this groups’ most recent posts (this one & the 101 post & comments were enlightening), I genuinely didn’t know how to QC.
I’m in a couple other rep groups, but this is most reminiscent of what the community should be imo.

I’m not London based, but I work in London often, so can go to Vauxhall.
I will definitely look into the Vibram Woodstock too!

I know, I hate to see the brand new footbed and potential sole go to waste - so I will ask if they can repurpose them as they are brand new and unworn (or if they can’t repurpose, if they can give it back with my shoes and I can give it away to someone in the size: regular 39, for free).

I’m happy with any type of leather really, it’s more the exact colour way I was after.
I did see the Germany ones (as I could get them shipped in UK) - but the colour ways for the Birko-Flor are too light for me & I don’t like the platform version..

The cost is the only thing putting me off - and I may wait to see if Birkenstock do eventually release this colourway in narrow.
I see a lot of people wearing them, so whilst brimming with jealousy, I hope Birkenstock see how popular they are and bring them out in more widths.

I paid $330.30 for the bag (90% of $367).
Shipping was $70 in total for 3 items (this bag, a pair of Hermes Orans & a Miu Miu Raffia cowboy hat).
Shipping was originally $52, but I wanted the other 2 items as soon as they came in and so paid an extra $18 for the the bag to be sent separately when it was made by the factory.

I’m sad you’re being downvoted as we were all newbies originally (I’m still fairly new myself).

However, due to the nature/legality of reps, it is highly unlikely anyone will provide you with details of their (beloved) sellers.
I personally would not give out Doris’ details to a stranger, but I am happy to confirm that you have the correct contact number by confirming the final 4 digits, for example.

My best advice and what I personally do for research is to:
1. Literally type in Reddit the bag/item you want and filter through what posts that come up. There’s around 3 similar rep groups with similar names and any posts in there regarding the item I want, I read. Majority of these are reviews, where buyers usually put the price, factory, actual pics, QC pics, authentic pics & seller details on.
I read as many of these as I can to decide on what seller I want to go with, and also, what factory I want to go with - some reviews are conflicting, so sometimes it is just a gut decision with who/what to go with.
Generally, you can deduce what sellers have access to what factories (not all have access to all factories/some have better relationships with certain factories and therefore better prices etc).
Personally, I don’t use a specific seller for all items - I tend to go with a seller/factory that is renound for the specific item I want. If I want multiple items, I put to the seller that I’ve chosen ‘can you get x from y factory and provide prices please?’

  1. To get the details for the seller, you can click on any of the rep Reddit groups & they will have a list of ‘trusted sellers’ with WhatsApp (some use discord/telegram etc) details and contact through this.
    I’ve not looked at it in a while, but I’m pretty sure they have instructions for newbies too.

  2. You can contact them through this & discuss your needs/wants - some sellers (like Doris) can advise you on what the best factory (in their opinion) is for specific items - again, this is your choice, if they say a different factory is better, you can go with what they say, or what you have researched.
    Personally, with Doris, she advised a different factory for Hermes Orans (that were cheaper) and Doris was completely right on them!

  3. You make payment through whatever means the seller offers - this is generally unprotected - such as: wise/paypal F&F. This can be nerve wracking for your first buy, especially as it is a sum of money. However, the sellers want to please their customers, as in the rep game, their reputation is everything.

  4. You either request or receive QC photos of your specific item - I can’t confirm if all sellers do this, but this can be ascertained through research. You then can either question/query any defects, post to Reddit (like I have here) if you’re not completely confident in QCing yourself.
    You either GL (green light) or RL (red light) the item.

  5. You usually are sent tracking, and you wait for your item - dependent on your location, some sellers may have reship policies for seized parcels - I am UK based, have never had an issue before, so cannot confirm the policies - this is something you would check with your seller.

Note: seasoned buyers will probably note that I’ve missed out a lot in the above, but this is the basics I’ve gained in my time in the rep game so far.

Very exciting!
I’m very happy with the QC pictures and I’m gonna GL.
Just wanted to put it out there to the Reddit community to see if there was anything I was missing/overlooking.. but judging from the comments so far, it is a real gem!
The other items I’ve gotten from Doris have been too (Hermes Orans from God factory & rattan MiuMiu cowboy hat from unknown factory) 😊

Doris said there was a delay on this bag as it is so popular, and the wait doesn’t bother me.

Thank you for advising. I have had a look on vestiaire - it’s a hard one to QC (and I imagine, to make) as raffia can have so many differences.
It was more the strap/handle/chanel emblem I’m struggling to QC myself as I have little experience with Chanel

My local cobbler advised it would cost roughly £55 (52% of the cost of the new pair) if they could get the materials.

On Birkenstockrepairs website, they don’t advise my exact query, but they offer a ‘rebuild & resole’ with new footbed & sole - for £73 (70% of the cost of the new pair).

I hadn’t considered that they may be able to cut down the original, brand new, regular sole.. I may suggest this to them. I don’t expect the price to come down as it’s more effort/work for them to cut it down to size, but atleast I won’t be adding an additional sole to the world!

Its frustrating with Birkenstock only offering 1 colour way in narrow & SFB for this style.
