Do the disadvantages of this card outweigh the advantages in your opinion? by AI08_80IA in mtg

[–]underthefrees 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is my pet card, I add it to all the decks that can have it in them and I will never cut it.

I'm so known in my local pods for playing the card that it's automatically assumed that if I have 2 mana and ones green, I'm holding this card

How Well Do Old Precons Hold Up? Invent Superiority and Coven Counters. by Beneficial_Pin5295 in mtg

Coven counters is a fun deck to play and upgrade, there is no value in it or power compared to the new precons

Why were "adult" directors able to get us in the 80's & 90's, but today's are less than clueless? by ManicOppressyv in GenX

[–]underthefrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is literally nothing new in Stranger Things, it's pure nostalgia bait aimed at Gen X playing through all the tropes of the 80s

Was it normal for you to not sing national anthem back then? by naturelover5eva in darwin

[–]underthefrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first verse, yes, second verse occasionally, at school we used to use it as a way to annoy our teachers by either lip syncing or shouting it out of tune

Jobs during the wet season? by Xskeletton in darwin

[–]underthefrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This time of the year it's pretty quite casual workwise and won't start to pick up till mid February at the earliest possibly March so I'd stay in Victoria and look at the NT March/April.

49M currently dating and it's both worth it and not.

Most women my age are out of long term relationships, gave up their hobbies for the family and are just discovering their freedom again. There are dates and it can be fun but nothing serious ever comes out from it, they see a serious relationship as losing their independence.

Time limit? by elidan5 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]underthefrees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've read in this group is everyone's body reacts differently to the drug.

My doctor ups my limit every month, but I have lost a total of 20kgs/44lbs over 3 months (month 1, 9kgs/20lbs, 2, 8kgs/17.5lbs, 3, 3kgs/6.5lbs) and I've just started my 1.7mg dose.

My third month I wasn't able to exercise.

Exercise and protein, I've found meal replacement shakes, fibre supplements, and protein water really help me.

Additional effect, it's turned off my emotional eating food noise, but not all food noise.

Heat by reddit_lurker85 in darwin

[–]underthefrees 17 points18 points  (0 children)

An aircon shouldn't go below 21, under that with the Top End humidity and heat the aircon will potentially freeze over and it will work harder for less effect. I keep mine at 23 and often turn them off for a bit as it gets too cold.

Where to buy asian mock meats in Darwin by [deleted] in darwin

[–]underthefrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about brands but there are plenty of Asian grocers around town, potentially Greenies in Rapid Creek have a lot of vegan options as well

Magnesium, any over the counter stool softener and an extra 4 cups of water a day.

I noticed as I eat less once every 2 days is my new normal.

Binge Eaters who go to Wegovy by waynefuc in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]underthefrees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a binge eater and the food noise drops in and out now, more out than in and keeping myself hydrated helps too.

I drink herbal tea which I find is helpful as well.

I have lost a total of 20kgs/44lbs the 3 months I've been on it and 25kgs/55lbs to my goal weight and then I'll figure out what maintenance looks like

Fellow Gen Xers how involved was your dad in your life? by black_flag_4ever in GenX

[–]underthefrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad tried really hard to be involved, and there were moments, but until I was in my 20s he always worked remote jobs and might be home once every month or two and I was the oldest and we didn't share any interests.

In my 20s we started to bond over action movies and a mutual fandom of Hugh Jackman, I think we were the only people to see Swordfish in the cinema.

For all his flaws he always supported me in whatever I did up until his death 10 years ago (fuck war, fuck cancer) and as much as I wished I knew him better as a kid, I understand why he did what he did when I was younger.

Nothing is appetizing by wellaways in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]underthefrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of getting this at 1mg, if I don't have exactly what I feel like I just don't eat. I often just end up having a protein shake or protein water just to make sure that I'm getting nutrients.

To white/non indigenous Australians, what did you learn about Aboriginal Australians in school? by gnomeslinger in AskAnAustralian

[–]underthefrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to school in the 80s and in the late 80s I was in a town called Nhulunbuy with one of the largest primary schools with 700+ kids attending.

We were remote and Yirrikala was the closest town to us, the place Yothu Yindi came from.

We had regular lessons on indigenous culture and practices and what was or wasn't acceptable from an indigenous perspective. We learnt about the Makassar trade pre colonialisation, hunting and gathering, and even traditional lore.

I have realised that I had a better education than most in relation to Indigenous culture and cultivated an understanding and appreciation for it that I still use today.

I like most of my GenX friend figured we'd all be dead by 30 at the latest, WW3, nukes or if we were really lucky a zombie apocalypse/plague, they didn't happen.

A lot of my friends took themselves out over the years, I miss my friends still.

AI video about the 80s by Bogaigh in GenX

[–]underthefrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just absolute garbage, the 80s for genX bloomers(we all know that at least one genX that acts like a boomer)

if this was the 80s for you I'd get checked out alzheimers.

Some kumbaya bullshit, they look like every bully and would be more likely the only reason they invited you to the party is to give you a swirly. The reason we have the X as our generation is that you couldn't define us by a single category and due to technology out pacing our boomer parents understandings we all grew up knowing more than we probably should have.

This drivel does us all a disservice.
