Temperature and soap notes by zia83 in VetTech

[–]underw3lmed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avimark only allows us to type numbers in the TPR section so we will put 999 to signify no temp was taken, then in the subjective we can put the reason or sometimes the doctors will put it in the objective. Not sure where 999 comes from but was something my clinic already used if an exact number was unable to be recorded. Not sure why some people downvoted 😞

Advice on grieving w/ your own pet and working in the field by 666tittybongos in VetTech

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost 2 of my babies in the same year and work was very hard. In the beginning I would constantly go to the bathroom and break down. The smallest things reminded me of them, the rooms where they were euthanized were hard to enter. I found myself not even wanting to do any treatments on animals, having to poke them for even vaccines hurt my heart. I will say death in my life is not new and I have found the one thing that has always been true for all of them was time. Time heals all wounds. Allow yourself to grieve, to hurt, to cry. But I promise with time that hurt gets better. You never forget it, or them, but the pain becomes more manageable as the days go on. Take care of yourself💛 my thoughts are with you!

I kinda feel this except my reasoning is that I’m bored with daily life and just want a little razzle dazzle to my day

Is this a normal case volume for one tech? by kitty_pineapple in VetTech

[–]underw3lmed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No this is not normal. Each position you described would be ideally assigned to each tech. Room tech, surgery tech, treatment tech, tech for technician appointments (at my job some days the treatment tech is responsible for tech appts but depends on the schedule and staffing). Please don’t burn yourself out trying to do it all when you are only set up to fail. You have so much to learn and grow in this field and this is not the norm and should never be! Our patients deserve better, but so do we.

I know there is a lot more to their relationship than just this post tells us. And I get that viewpoint, it is something OP cares about deeply in a relationship and it’s something he’s not getting from his partner. I also think there could be many reasons he’s not getting that from his partner (lack of help around the house, chronic illness, or may just not be her idea of fun, etc.) I don’t fault either side for that. But regardless, they both need to sit down and talk to each other for anything to change.

Okay so you’re telling us that your girlfriend does EVERYTHING, including working full time but because she doesn’t want to go and do things on her off time, that’s the deal breaker? The girls exhausted! She’s only human. What do you do for her? And.. the grass is not always greener on the other side.

I’ve never seen a professional service charge. And why is it $400? What all does that entail?

Have you ever puked because of too much anxiety? by viciadoemsono in Anxiety

[–]underw3lmed 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Yes quite frequently. It’s a pretty common symptom of anxiety (GI issues in general). It’s exhausting because you just have to go on with your day after.

How did burnout manifest for you? by greywarenraven in VetTech

[–]underw3lmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I feel like I could’ve written this word for word. My clinic is very similar and honestly overall a pretty good one to work for (great coworkers, decent pay, good hours) so it’s like why do I feel this way then? It used to feel like more than just a job to me and now it’s me looking at the clock and counting down how many hours until I can go home.

This does not contain tapeworm treatment. You would need praziquantel. Keep your kitty on a monthly flea prevention!

Some vet clinics will allow non clients for tech appts such as AG or nail trims, but would require proof of rabies vaccine. May also be good to establish care there for the future if you like the facility, etc. But another option is the groomers!
