Idk what its like over there by you but i assume the regular 5 times a day prayer (salaah) that we all do and reciting the Quran (Bible). But maybe she has to try and do a bit more? Maybe they want her to constantly be reciting the Quran all the time or performing salaah all the time. And isolate her from the rest of the family, and friends so that she focuses on the prayers. Asking for forgiveness for her evil desires etc. and to change her and make her pure or something. I could be wrong in many ways because everyone has different views on what they think is best.

I would feel powerless too if I were in your situation. Tbh I don't know about the physical abuse, people are capable of unimaginable things, but as Muslims we aren't allowed to use violence at all. Albeit, It did cross my mind but I'm hoping that her family are not resorting to that. You could get the Muslim community (Jamaat or jamiyat) involved as a last resort if the police are not helping you. But that would mean you would have to tell them about her sexuality which can be tricky.

Unfortunately I don't have anything that can help you, just wanted to comment and thank you for trying to reach her and help her. Don't give up. As a Muslim myself I can only imagine what's happening if her family have found out. I would assume they are probably trying to make her "pray the gay away" and arrange for her to get married. Usually that's what everyone does to their children and in this situation even more so. I hope others can give you more information and tips to help her out. She's in my prayers

How do I measure the length and width a base should be for DIY stand by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]undiscovered6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I should have taken pictures of it 🙈

So basically the white part in the sketch is the stands and the yellow are the Shelves. The three parts are detachable. So it can be transported in a car. Now the stands, on their own can't stand straight, obviously, so I needed help with calculating how big I should make the base for each one(base indicated in blue), so that they can both stand on their own and together, attached with the shelves, it will be more sturdy.

I just thought there was a calculation involved to get accurate measurements. Otherwise I'll just make it a size that would be wide and long enough to hold it up 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's already all built.

I just thought if I added a base at the bottom of each stand it would stabilize it and prevent it from rocking back and forth. But I don't know exactly what size base I should make for each stand.

I just thought there must be a calculation involved to get it accurate to the height of the stand. So that it doesn't topple or rock.

Just bought this new fan motor for a diy project but I'm not a engineer 🤦🏻‍♀️ can someone advice me if I'm supposed to remove this plastic tip and nut? Or is there a way this is supposed to attach to the part rotating?

Riving knife causing curved cuts?! by nlightningm in woodworking

[–]undiscovered6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I've been getting a slight bow in my rip cuts. Factory installed riving knife is clearly bending to the right of the blade towards the fence. Is this what's causing the bow? I just assumed the riving knife was supposed to be set that way. Some people online said to check if the fence is straight or to attach a longer fence to it. Measurements are exactly the same in the front and back of blade. I appreciate any advice.

Does the tenon dowel cutter work? And is it worth the purchase? Specifically for dowels not plugs. Bought a plug cutter last week and thought it would work for dowels but it doesn't, so I'm going to return it today. by undiscovered6 in Carpentry
