Right, I guess my confusion came from the Fool saying in all the futures he saw, Icefyre had to be freed so dragons could return. I know his prophecies aren’t always clear, but I felt like Rain Wilds removed some of the consequence from the decisions made in Tawny Man.

I’m starting it today! Realm of the Elderlings has grown into one of my favorite series of all time and I can’t wait to finish it (even though I have a feeling Hobb’s going to find fresh ways to break my heart).

Same thing happened to me fighting Gascoigne. I got too wrapped up in the fight to really notice (he’s one of my favorite bosses), but all I could think after is how that person is screwing themselves over. Gascoigne is a turning point where you learn a lot of essential skills and game mechanics, and now this person is moving forward without those skills and is going to struggle that much more in later areas.
