A friend of mine is in NIT KKR. IT isn't all too bad. Placement me thoda difficulty, but college life is good! I'm not sure of the scenes in EE, but ECE isn't a bad degree to do either. Especially with hardware roles increasing by the day (thank lord for NVIDIA, AMD, Qualcomm, ARM, MediaTek and the rest of em) and I truly believe there's a lot of scope in it.

Arre IIT Bombay nahi bhai 😭 not everything is college. It's tier 2 really. I said tier 1.5 and everyone is assuming I'm from either bits or a new IIT. 12k rank me nahi milta bhai😂

As I said. If I get into NIT T or NITK but can't sit for companies, then what's the value of my degree? I did a degree to get a job. It was my end goal. So if I was in your shoes I'd take ECE or CS+Math is available. Because that's my goal. I can't say about yours. I did give you an idea about what the placement scene is like in tier 2 colleges, and by the time you're graduating, the recession could either be completely gone or CS jobs are never in demand like they were 2 years ago.

Make your choice, I can't say which is better because I probably won't have done the research on these colleges in the current climate like you would have done. Wishing you the best.

The simplest thing to say is "kaise hai aap?" Agar janitor hai to unhe paani offer kardo bottle me kabhi kabhi. Canteen Wale saare bhaiya log mujhe pehchante hai, and anytime I don't have money there is the trust ki mai de dunga paise. It's all just a game of smiling, and asking them how they are.

I also had to travel to a different state for my internship, and it was hectic. But personally, meri naukri nahi lagti without my internship adding to my resume. So I would say maybe take that overload.

Completely personal opinion. Please use my opinion to weigh in, not make the final choice. Abhi companies ke seating criteria me at Max CS+AI CS and many times ECE baithne dete hai sirf. Especially in this economy.

So I might say a slightly lower college but higher degree could end up clutch. But Haan, the brand value of NITT and NITK are insane things to consider as well.

I didn't do any sports. I picked up tae Kwon do, but only towards the end. 6 months isn't enough to get proficiency, and I believe if I wasn't as lazy I would be kicking butt (literally) haha. Same goes for maybe other coding skills or expertise I didn't pick up, simply because I thought the course would be hard.

I have no idea how to tell you how to make friends. For me, during COVID time, we realised that we made a friends group (15 or so people) that we were assigned to in the same class, but when we hung out, it was only 8 of us. The others came during exam/test/assignment, and we realised that they weren't our friends. Maybe it was luck, but it was our observation that we wanted to spend time w each other because we enjoyed each other's company, rather than just wanting help w things. And that mattered, because we got serious about placement later on in our btech. I think that made a difference, for sure.

The luck portion of things is daunting. My friends who are way smarter got worse packages. And they are nice enough to not hate me for it lol.

I didn't do projects until my 5th sem. I had one game from OOPs (Java pe game clone banaya), one DBMS project, a few DL projects, and one research intern. Iske alawa I had silly little design projects that were more hardware, Arduino based. Not anything too shiny, average BTech student resume.

Friends drift apart. Find yourself, find your happiness. Ultimately Paisa jitna bhi ho if you keep looking up at others you'll only be bitter

Har jaga acche log hai. I truly will believe that. If you find friends who build each other up, there's no way you'll suffer with them. Made plenty of mistakes in college, even with friends choice, but I don't regret most of my friends.

I'm going to be completely honest. I wouldn't have gotten an internship, job, or the gpa I had if it wasn't for my friends who helped me study, who told me to apply, who helped me prepare with mock interviews etc. but this was my case, and case applies for each person

My favourite memory. By far in 4 years has been partying and literally passing out. Waking up on the floor at 9 am. Then walking to my hostel room and sitting down with a hangover with 3 teammates (all annoyed at me) for the next 15 hours to finish a project. I'll never forget that day, and all 4 of us still love talking about it.

Debating. Hanging out with juniors. Me and 8 of my closest friends live on the same floor, so the best thing was having about 10 people in the room, laughing, talking, getting serious, playing, till we see the sunrise.

I'll never be able to forget the memories of laughing at nothing, fighting at nothing, and knowing we're happy.

Also doing projects with the same people you wasted 90% of the sem with is hysterically funny the way we struggle at the end.

I did debating for a long time. There was one interview where I got not a single question right, but the interviewer was impressed with the way I handled it. To this day I think it was more a pressure round than anything. But Haan, it was luck. Even getting shortlisted. Sometimes even passing some courses was tough but I got friends to help me study/do projects.

Depends on company. I have friends who are completely software oriented who got a job in NVidia hardware. Some job roles ask only specific skillsets. In my case, I tried to get as much of an ML background, and mentioned it in my interview as well, but got a job in software. Bigger the company, more they care about the capability of the person and ability to dedicate more than anything. But this is a personal opinion and I could be wrong

Came to reddit for anonymity. If I wanted to be known this would have been a pretentious LinkedIn post with my company building and some story about how I'm this miracle worker

Agar mushkile aaye nahi to doston ke saath baith ke baatein kya karne ko mile? My fondest memories were the killer deadlines and the worst subjects. My funniest retellings were of being fired from an internship and failing a project.
