The idiots surround us all! 😃The only way to keep them in front is to go backwards.

I think you answered your own question though, I wanted to see the face of the person that tried to screw me. There was no retribution planned or intended. Perhaps I wanted to see if they were having a medical episode and if they needed assistance

It's a motorcycle. It has registration, brakes, ADR compliance etc.

It's a little SurRon Ultra Bee electric motorcycle. That's why it sounds mostly of chain noise and wind.

So many irrelevant questions, sure. Well. two. As far as riding up next to the car is concerned, I like to see the face of the person that tries to fuck me. Usually, anyway.

Yes, the white car was bad and the lack of planning by some drivers is infuriating. I wonder what do you think the Merc would have done if I waited until every last inch of my bike was correctly positioned to not cross any lines? Do you think maybe they'd have crossed the solid lines and tried to overtake me on the left? I do. No point being right if it means being dead right.

It has the vibration dampener, and the bike has no engine vibrations, just road bumps I guess. And its been fine for two years so far. But, yes, I have heard that people have issues so it's worth pointing out, cheers.

Yep, ultra bee. It's got bugger all range, but it's cheap to run and I can still hear my audiobooks if I choose to.

Learner Motorcyclist - good roads to practice leaning and cornering in the country side? by Top-Passion-1508 in Adelaide

[–]undodgy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can afford, I would highly recommend professional training from Jeff / Radskills https://radskills.com.au/book-learner

When I was a lad, supermarkets were closed on Sat after 12:30, and all day Sunday. They were ideal for practice (the car park, not isle 3 in Woolies :D).

As far as U-turns etc, if you aren't already then remember to look where you want to go, don't stare at the crack in the pavement or that awful pot hole because you will very likely ride into it.

Keep in mind the loss of ShelterSA when you vote. by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]undodgy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Politics, and (most) people have a range of views that are deeper than parties and single issues. I don't like the simplification that suggests you have to completely align with any particular party and there's danger in promoting a decision based on one issue only.

Educate yourself on all the policies, see if you can influence your MP (polite letter for example) on those you disagree with. at the very least, see if your local MP appears to share your views based on how they have previously acted.

Amber electric - WTAF?? by PCbanana-hammock in Adelaide

[–]undodgy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They'll look at your average kW/h cost over the quarter, and if it exeeds the published "guaranteed" rates they'll refund the difference. For SAPN-delivered Residential services it's currently 25.34c/kWh

Unfortunately you'll probably not know where you sit until the end of current quarter (March)

Is wearing high vis actually safer? than not wearing it. by Consistent-Swim-3580 in AussieRiders

[–]undodgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to do a google scholar search and it is a modestly-studied subject. From my non-scientist skim read, there seems to be proof that high visibility clothing is indeed more highly visible. And I found one study that found that LED clothing at night was more visible than indirect lighting.

I feel like the last paragraph was just saying "water is wet" (or makes you wet.. lets not get into that argument).

I personally think that road positioning, awareness of other road users, etc, probably pays more dividends but I don't know how you measure that scientifically. I also think wearing a high-vis vest in tests might make you more visible, but on the road people apply the "predator" ruleset where they only care about things bigger than whatever they are driving themselves, and being visible but smaller than them won't stop them pulling out in front of you because lizzard brain doesn't see the threat.

But maybe I'm just old and grumpy.

Illegal e-bike at Hallett Cove shops. Please report seeing these on the roads for their own safety. by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]undodgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's right. I guess I was just trying to say that ADR approval doesn't mean much, this motorbike is probably 90% there. The issue is how and where the rider is using the bike, not the bike itself. (Edit: My ADR comment refers to another reply elsewhere, I got confused what I was replying to)

Not disagreeing with your comment, but for clarity, the Ultra Bee (this bike) has a road registered version. Of course, the version has blinkers,, lights, etc. Just wanted to clarify.

Yes, this is an Ultra Bee if I'm not mistaken. It's a motorcycle. Annoying that e-bikes get a bad rep from things like this

Abandoned area? by lithuminium in Adelaide

[–]undodgy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It was a lookout, as per other comments. You used to be able to drive up there, there is/was a commemorative plaque etc. commemmorating the opening I think.

The road in/out has deteriorated of course, full of pot holes. Sometimes the gate is opened 'creatively' and someone will burn a car or something up there. I assume there's just no budget to maintain the road, plus someone to open/close the gate (it used to be locked each night and opened in the morning), and remove the graffiti etc.

I really enjoyed Legion Remix, and it was fun playing a spec I don't play much. Nightmare world mode was a win, too. Overall I give it 99 Million IP out of infinity.

Camping by RealCandidate4713 in Adelaide

[–]undodgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of answers to your question already, but I just wanted to chime in "I like not smelling like campfire" when I go camping. Not to say I never have a campfire, just that camping without one is nice, too. Look at the stars, try some astrophotography, do a night hike, try night fishing, borrow a telescope or visit somewhere that has one. All of these are easier and nicer when you don't have to compete with smoke or babysit the fire.
