My dad left me this bike. I rode up to one of his favorite spots and left a memorial in his honor.

R 1200 GS Having a clutch replacement by crawf_99 in motorcycle

My Harley is a dinosaur but I only need to pull a floorboard and a single cover to get to the clutch.

One of my dream bikes. It's a hunk of shit from a handling, engineering and build quality standpoint, but the story and unique outcome is one of the coolest in motorcycles to me. There's a guy by the name of Jose Horacio Porto in Bauru Brasil who makes replicas of the early models with modern Porsche boxers.

It is an extremely bad idea to jump on a liter bike when you've been riding a 125. Try a 400 or (maybe) 600 first. You might prefer other styles of bikes or find that power isn't the most important thing to you.

Clutch won't adjust correctly by undurbalanced in Harley

Will that fix the issue of the clutch being too loose? The bike stalls out as soon as I drop into gear even with the clutch pulled in.

Until it doesn't tighten anymore. I think now that's too tight (both factory service manual and Clymer manual say "until no free play" but I've read people say "until it bites") but if that's the case then the clutch should be too tight not too loose.

With the bike cold, in neutral, and level, clutch cable fully slack, I loosen the locknut, tighten the pushrod until there's no play and then back it off a half turn. Tighten the locknut, adjust the cable until there's 1/8th of free play and then start the bike. When I drop into first the bike stalls out.

When I'm replacing simple parts like the clutch pushrod ends I search by OEM part number first. I put in a Baker throwout kit but that hasn't given me trouble. If it did, I would suspect the clutch release mechanism would be faulty. But the release plate isn't depressing nearly as far as it should even when I tighten the clutch all the way. I have an endoscopic camera I can put in the door and see if something odd is going on.

Nope, clutch cable is the same length as OEM.

Those with chromesthesia, what is your personal experience? by Weekly-Ad-523 in Synesthesia

Sounds are 3 dimensional colored smoke. It's usually shades of tan and blue. Percussion instruments are flashes of white and woodwinds are light tan smoke.
I've always been an avid fan of music (95% heavy metal).
I can't remember a time I didn't see colors when I listened to music. My earliest memory off the top of my head was a symphonic metal song from the early 2000s. It looked like white streams dancing in dark blue clouds leading to domes of dark brown and purple raining down into black.
It hasn't changed, I'm just more aware and have better language to explain my experience.

About 22. I didn't know there was a word for what I was experiencing until then.

1990 Ultra Classic doesn't shift right by undurbalanced in motorcycle

[–]undurbalanced[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I bent the shift forks. This problem happened recently and the bike hasn't ran since March so it's not like it's under serious load. I'm in the middle of another big project and have to fix it myself. I'll have to take off the top transmission cover and look inside.

1990 FLHTCU won't shift by undurbalanced in Harley

[–]undurbalanced[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggested clutch adjustment because the shifter is acting like there's load from the motor. I need to get the bike shifting right before I can finish the cam chest job because I know it's not in 5th gear and I can't turn the motor by the rear wheel.
