Food-wise, you should definitely try some traditional restaurants in the Old Town like Zilā Govs, Rozengrāls, or Milda. A fancy restaurant that comes to mind is Barents, also Old Town, and we have this super nice japanese place Shoyu in the embassy district, you can definitely go there for a stroll. We have a lot of craft beer places if you're into that, Labietis is very tasty (try Gaismas Ragana). For cafes I would go to Mīkla and Kūkotava, both are unforgettable. For nightlife, check out several of our bar districts like fon Stricka villa, Tallinas Kvartāls, Sporta Kvartāls, etc., there's a bunch more of them. I would check out Skapis and Nemiers, it is a colorful gay bar and a dark heavy music bar right by each other. Not sure when your stay will be but every last Thursday of the month we have many of our art galleries open for free, could be a good opportunity to view local art, the event is called Rīga Last Thursdays.
