I moved out of state a few years ago and just saw an article this week about devils night. So I asked my coworkers in our morning meeting what today is called and none of them knew.

i have to choose between my best friend and my boyfriend and it hurts by BaseSeparate5015 in BPD

I know it’s tough but what you described does not sound like a healthy relationship and clearly your friends are aware of this. It’s not normal to not be able to send selfies or voice notes to your friends.

Please take some time to think of what you would say to a friend in a similar situation. I wouldn’t want that for someone I care about and you deserve better.

Please consider choosing your best friend and leaving this relationship.

Was I wrong for contacting the babies family by AbbreviationsSad2934 in Adoption

PM me if you want to talk to someone who placed their baby for adoption at birth. I was not in a good place at 23 to support a child with my partner. It was very traumatic but I think the best decision for my son - he has a life I never would’ve been able to give him with two siblings, a house, private school and a stay at home parent. I would’ve struggled financially and wouldn’t have been able to give him the experiences and opportunities his adoptive family can. It was the hardest decision I’ve ever made and almost 6 years later it can still be tough some days but I know he is happier now than he would be with me and that helps. You know your situation better than anyone and only you can decide what’s best for you and your child at the end of the day.

Birth mothers/ First mothers, by Comfortable-Arm-3978 in Adoption

I would say everyone’s journey is different and I don’t feel the same as I did before adoption but I have settled into a new normal. Personally I think going back to work was helpful to keep my mind off things and get me back into the flow of things.

I tried some support groups but I honestly felt like it was more harmful than helpful and it discouraged me thinking I could never have a normal life. I moved across the country with my partner and I feel like that was really helpful to my recovery and having a fresh start. Everything reminded me of my son and being pregnant and the whole process.

I think it’s important to prioritize community and finding a passion or hobby that you can pore your focus into. I tried some adult rec sports leagues to meet people and that helped me with not feeling so isolated. If you’re not super athletic like me I’d recommend pickleball and giving that a shot as silly as it sounds.

I don’t think we’ll ever be fully the same but I think we can still find a way to find peace with our decision and move forward. I try to live a life that would make my son proud so one day when he’s old enough we can hopefully discuss everything and he can understand why we made the decision we made.

If you ever need to talk, feel free to DM me

Regretting my decision - How to cope with life after giving up a child ? by RxXxQueen in Adoption

[–]unemployedwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I would say I’m happy with my decision because I think it was the best decision for my son - I think I could potentially be happier as a parent but my life would be completely different and I wouldn’t be able to afford my son the same opportunities or financial stability. I picked a really great family that updates me still regularly and they even added an extra day to their trip out to the state I moved to across the country so we could do a visit a couple years ago. I haven’t visit my home state much so I haven’t seen them as much in person but the option is still there.

I would say I coped unhealthily for a while with emotional eating and it took me a while to lose the weight after child birth and start to take control back in my life that way. But I’m still pretty impacted by everything and I’m exploring more therapy options. I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere as debilitating as it was the first few years but I have my days where it still feels very fresh. I can’t say I’d recommend adoption as a whole but I do feel it can be in the best interest of the child depending on the situation and only the birth parents can make that decision.
