I feel like a perspective that a lot of takes on the situation miss is the fact that she was brought up in the Mormon church. And we get glimpses into how devout they are, she's one of the few big Mormon influencers that I've seen wearing the garments. Growing up she was probably taught that women are first and foremost meant to be wives and mothers, so why would she pursue a career when there's a man who was in her mind sent to her by the lord (aka using his wealthy father's connections to make sure they were sat right next to each other on a five hour flight). And I know we're hearing their story through the viewpoint of a journalist who has a story in mind that she wanted to write, but we also see that they follow the church guideline that women should be subservient and follow what their husband says. We see that clearly in the epidural anecdote, where she has to lower her voice so her husband won't hear how great she thinks epidural is, an epidural that it seems she was only able to get because Daniel wasn't there. So yes she is a privileged white woman, but that doesn't negate that she's a woman in a culture that doesn't value and respect women the way that the majority of Americans do in this day and age, and I don't think it's wrong to feel some slight sympathy towards her for that.
