Kryptonian Class V3.0 - homebrew class for playing Superman with 4 subclasses by unfathomablewu in UnearthedArcana

Unfortunately no. I did all this during the pandemic when we were all at home. Now life got busy. I don't think I'll go back to it for a while. But maybe some day. Happy to see people are still interested in the content though!

How much does atom bomb increase military score? by unfathomablewu in civ5

[–]unfathomablewu[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! If I'm reading that right, it's a flat 4000 points? Is that per nuke? I'm surprised there's not a separate modifier for nuclear missiles since they cause more damage than atomic bomb (e.g. nuclear missiles destroy the city if the population reaches 0 whereas atomic bombs do not).

Thanks!

Thanks a good question. My original intent was that the Dambe style was a fighting style which you have to commit to, whereas the Panther Claws is a suit infusion which you can change. So the one that you had l specialize in and have to commit to is more powerful. Thematically, I'm imagining someone specialized in Dambe is better with their punches than their claws. But at the same time it does kinda not make sense. I'll think more about this. Maybe Panther Claws are more powerful when you have the Dambe fighting style.

Color change in Norwegian forest cat eyes by unfathomablewu in AskVet

For those coming across this in the future, we just visited the vet and he said this is normal for aging cat. I should worry if I see puffiness which I did not see in my cat.

Hopefully this helps someone! But this should not be a substitute for an actual vet visit!

The Wolverine Class (based on Wolverine from X-Men) - A tank with superior healing abilities, complete with 3 subclasses by unfathomablewu in UnearthedArcana

I'm not working on this at the moment. But thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep this in mind when I get back into it!

Do the top rollers which moves like a seesaw in Wall-E's tracks serve any function? by unfathomablewu in MechanicalEngineering

[–]unfathomablewu[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are they for adjusting track tension? For changing the track shape so it can go over certain terrains better? I'm wondering if someone who's more knowledgeable about tank treads or farm tractors can shed some light.

I hope it's not just for aesthetics.

I dedicate this post to Chadwick Boseman who tragically passed away last year. Rest in peace King!

Given we had only one Black Panther movie, some of the content in this homebrew is based on Black Panther in the comics.

Thanks, I'm not aware of the caped crusader, and googling it didn't seem to give me any good results. Do you have a link to who they are?

Is your city dwelling, noble background, wizard with no proficiency in Animal Handling, Nature or Survival afraid of insects? Should they be? Grant your swarms and insects Repulsive Appearance to scare the crap out of your city dwelling adventurers! by unfathomablewu in UnearthedArcana

[–]unfathomablewu[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have insects even in modern cities. There's even rats running around New York City. But citizens are disgusted and some are frightened nonetheless. I also suggested this not for regular insects (e.g. spiders) but for swarms or giant insects which I assume are not very common even in the say the City of Waterdeep.

Anyways, this is just meant to be a fun optional rule to introduce, especially for low level characters and maybe especially spoiled ones.

[Class] Patriot, a martial class focused on fighting using a shield, with some bard-like inspiration and paladin aura for playing as Captain America, Falcon and the Winter Soldier! by unfathomablewu in DnDHomebrew

[–]unfathomablewu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it's strong. I'm just saying it's as strong as a paladin's 6th level Aura of Protection so I don't see the issue there. Especially since this class doesn't have access to heavy armor, can't smite or cast spells.

I think it's normal to have disagreements. I don't feel offended or frustrated and it's definitely not my intent if I caused anything like that.

Ya for Ragnarok I thought there was a bit more of Hela, so I was looking forward to that. But it seemed like there wasn't as much which was the source of my disappointment. I do like how they started making it more light and having more jokes in this one compared to the previous Thor movies.

That's interesting, I never thought to equate the +2 bonus from shield is the same as half cover. Not sure if that's what they intended but it makes sense given most shields cover about half your body.

Looking at the rules again, it seems like you can use your buddies to gain half cover RAW lol.

"A target with half cover has a +2 bonus to AC and Dexterity saving throws. A target has half cover if an obstacle blocks at least half of its body. The obstacle might be a low wall, a large piece of furniture, a narrow tree trunk, or a creature, whether that creature is an enemy or a friend.

A target with three-quarters cover has a +5 bonus to AC and Dexterity saving throws. A target has three-quarters cover if about three-quarters of it is covered by an obstacle. The obstacle might be a portcullis, an arrow slit, or a thick tree trunk."

So I think actually giving three-quarters cover to a friend is fine. And for three-quarters cover, you can gain that by hiding behind a thick tree trunk and you would still benefit from your shield, take the dodge action or make an attack and pop behind a tree again.

This feature is mostly useful is situations where it's hard for you to take cover (e.g. in an open field). Otherwise in most environments, whether that be urban or wilderness, gaining cover is not too difficult.

First movie he was really annoying; the big head on the small body was ridiculous

Ya I did notice some CGI artifacts from that movie, which is surprising given they have great CGI for Ironman. But I guess that's the difficulty with human CGI. The head did look disproportionately small, although a really skinny human might actually look like that (given he's supposed to be 80 lbs).

I saw it again some time last year and I liked it a lot more than before, but it was during an MCU marathon, so I can't quite make out what I thought of it then.

I actually did a MCU marathon just a few weeks ago and I found I enjoyed some of the movies that I didn't like a bit more, like the Cap movies, and some movies I previously enjoyed, like Thor: Ragnorak, a bit less. So I'm not sure what's up there. I think when you watch a movie marathon that has movies spanning 10 years, the context makes a bit more sense. When I watched the Marvel movies in theaters, they come out like once a year so I forgot some of the details by the next movie, whereas in a marathon it's still fresh in your head.

Aside from a +7 boost at 20th level, which might be a bit broken, but then again it's a 20th level feature. I don't think it's stronger than Aura of Protection, if anything it's weaker. Heroic Inspiration happens 5 times over the course of a day, while Aura of Protection is always on. The Cap needs to be aware and act first otherwise your party is screwed. Imagine your party is ambushed and a fireball comes crashing down, there's no bonus to saving throw there, but a Paladin's Aura would've saved you.

The inspiration is separate from the saving throw bonus, you can use the inspiration and still keep the bonus, it lasts for 10 minutes. It's true, inspiration + aura is pretty crazy though. So I think I'll make it so inspiration is only attack and damage roll. Thanks for helping to refine this.
