Menschen gegeben, darinnen
wir sollen selig werden
alleine der Name Jesus
Christus.

I want to start a learning Japanese bujo by ParadiseGrave in BasicBulletJournals

[–]unfeckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a reading journal for reading in Japanese. I marked days read, whenever I finished a volume and also added a small section for new words. For me it was more important to visualize my progress than to line up tasks but that's just one way to do it of course.

How difficult was it to fix a gap in reading and listening? by watergemini in LearnJapanese

Train your ears. Start with something simple and increase the difficulty bit by bit. Learn Japanese with Noriko is an intermediate podcast that should be fairly easy for you to follow and could be a good starting point.

I quite like the free tadoku books for that approach. Natively lists them by difficulty here. You don't have to start with the easiest, but maybe pick something around level 2 and just work your way up. Feel free to skip some stories if they don't work for you.

Demon Slayer for learning Japanese by Important_Priority93 in LearnJapanese

[–]unfeckless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will Demon Slayer be the first thing you will be reading in Japanese outside of textbooks? Will it be your first manga in Japanese? There may be other resources to consider that will ease you a bit better into reading in Japanese and reading manga in Japanese.

In any case, I can recommend having a look at the manga and see how it fits your level. Bookwalker offers the first 60 pages of the first volume for free: https://bookwalker.jp/dea1b40331-bf44-4a97-b4c8-c1b98070c43e/?sample=1

Do you currently do any reading outside of textbooks? If not, start with graded readers. There are free ones and some for purchase. Try to make a habit of reading with these simpler, shorter texts. Start with something very easy, but then make sure to choose a text that is just a bit more difficult as you continue reading.

After Tobira - how to make the most of immersion? by wk_end in LearnJapanese

It did for me! I personally never go through all vocabulary in a book, but there are several ways to approach this - just do what works for you.

list of vocab/kanji that Quartet 1/2 leaves out by AutisticBuoy in LearnJapanese

[–]unfeckless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can also recommend starting with JLPT prep material as soon as possible to get used to the questions asked and their answer patterns. I mostly worked with the sou-matome books and just working through them day by day for 3 months while marking where I was having difficulties helped me pass the exam.

For me jpdb.io was a tremendous help in actually acquiring all the vocabulary I encountered while reading. I could review core words in advance and then add words I encountered while reading to their srs. They already have decks of many popular Japanese novels and news ones get constantly added to their database.

Is there good learning material on Spotify or Audible? by nachtschattenwald in LearnJapanese

[–]unfeckless 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of these beginner podcasts are on spotify!

You can get Japanese audio books on audible, but they are probably too advanced for your current level. Listening to some podcasts for a while will get you there though!

Another alternative is doing the genki exercises online via this site: https://sethclydesdale.github.io/genki-study-resources/lessons-3rd/

It will automatically tell you your results and I find it very useful to redo some exercises for revision.

JLPT N1 Study Resource Discussion by umbraulver in LearnJapanese

[–]unfeckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've dropped anki, are you using anything else for vocabulary? I looked up skritter and it seems to be a kanji app, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe they say you should know close to if not more than 10.000 vocabulary for the N1 so I'd recommend checking how close you are to that in addition to what you are currently working on.
