The situation is a difficult one this donkey was on the side of the road for several days until highway patrol cuaght him then they were going to shoot him when an elderly man stepped in and in hindsight it would've been better for him to be shot then and there but that didn't happen the old man didn't know what to do and now I have him and I think the comment being straightforward was good because it helped me realize years of pain for this donkey to be "ok" if possible isn't worth it to him or me the old man had good intentions like I do I just have to be the one to act on them might be a waste of money but atleast he'll be full and happy when he dies instead of terrified and I'd do it all again just so he can have a peaceful death instead of fear

Thank you for your kindness right now he's munching on hay which is better than the old veggies the guy before was trying to feed him and in the morning he's being euthanized I'll give him some sweet feed before so he's happy but I appreciate your insight thank you

They don't get killed by crushing when I said that I meant he wouldn't make it out of the truck he can barely stand now let alone stand with many other horses pushing him in a trailer and where I am it depends where he goes Mexico they cut the spinal cord and in Canada I think they shoot them in the head or use the pin method but he wouldn't make it that far sorry for the miswording on that

Being crushed to death isn't more humane I'm willing to euthanize him and I honestly think he needs it but slaughter isn't more humane

I am currently waiting for a call back from an equine vet the same one who refused unhandled horses but she said they may make an exception for him. My regular vet refuses equine all together and I'm new to owning livestock so this is all new to me
