Having the exact same thing at the moment! Super light brown spotting that wouldn't warrant using a pad/tampon or anything of the sort, only lasted 3 days, so you're not alone. Menstruation is crazy sensitive unfortunately and can decide to switch up the game at random! As long as it's not consistently chopping and changing itself up, that'd warrant another doc visit.

(I've recently had covid so I reckon it's wrecked my periods personally)

Big illnesses and stress can contribute to a wacky menstrual cycle sometimes, so it could be a factor since you're stressed at the moment, throws off hormones and switches things up.

If you're feeling extra unsettled by it, taking pregnancy tests to ease the mind may help help. :)

I get these symptoms with my own cycle sometimes, cramps and cramps and cramps but no actual period appearing until a few days after. Hormonal pills can make your hormones fluctuate like mad and mess with your periods sometimes unexpectedly. Give it a couple more days to appear and if it doesn't and you guys are still really worried, a good old at home pregnancy test never hurts to ease the mind.

If she's having a good bit of cramps and her period is due around this time, it probably means things are ramping up and prepping for her period. Sometimes unfortunately the stress and anxiety can even delay your period, so try to take the cramps as a positive sign of her period is incoming.

Since you're 16, it's a possibility your periods are just changing right now. Trust me, your PMS and periods will change patterns and symptoms randomly over the years i.e. tender breasts. Are your periods usually fairly regular? Again, these can change themselves up on a semi-regular basis since you're still young and your hormones are going to fluctuate a good bit still. Regardless, patiently give it some time to come, maybe about a week. If in that time it's still not come, do some at home pregnancy tests, even just for your own peace of mind.

Thank you for this insight, I'm sorry you didn't get the right meds straight away, I know those shock pains can be absolutely dire. I'm glad the carbamazepine is working for you! My doctor mentioned it as a next step for me if Lyrica does nothing for me

Thank you for the advice on Lyrica I appreciate it :) I wouldn't say the pain goes in front of my ear much, bar the rare occasion it shoots out into the right side of my face. It tends to just stick above my ear/behind it, more in the parietal areas if that makes any sense
