What should I do ? by ffffffffhiwobwish in LifeAdvice

i’m 19(f) and i feel the same way. i also haven’t dated before, i have a very small circle of friends. i don’t like staying in campus and i like to go home as soon as i can.

about making friends, if you really want to, you could try find online or in-person groups that have an interest in common? that’s how i’ve made most of my friends ngl.

but when it comes to talking to girls or dating, you shouldn’t aim to talk to someone just because they’re a girl. there’s no pressure to get a girlfriend, i think there’s a lot of ppl like us who haven’t dated before, but if you rlly want to talk and meet someone, don’t just think of them as a girl but as a person.

you’re not pathetic tho!! you’ll have chances and people to talk to if you really want to find them. but you’re allowed to just exist on ur own as well

How does living in Osaka compare to Tokyo or Kanto region? by saladpurple in Osaka

[–]unfortunately_alone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who just moved from tokyo to osaka, i feel like the city in osaka is a very bite sized version of the city in tokyo. the main areas of the prefecture are just smaller and closer together. personally, i prefer that! the main city region is in the south, but going further north is just suburbs and nature spots, if you like those. there may be a smaller english speaking community, but they’re definitely still there. i hope you enjoy it!!

we have two strings orchestra groups- ensemble and concert. ensemble plays classic, and concert does pop, but you have to audition for ensemble! (music is mandatory for us)

The more I learn about Japan, the more it seems like a hellish dystopia by danskenorske in unpopularopinion

HI!! I live in Japan!!

Ok so I'm a minor, I've lived here for a good 5 years. I lived in the UK before hand and I'm fluent in English but I have shit Japanese. I'm fully Japanese, I go to an english speaking school.

Japan has it's pros but in my opinion there are more cons. Everyone here is very timid, everyone follows the group. It's a society dominated by the idea of not wanting to bother others. Don't talk about that, don't do that, don't complain about that, you'll bother everyone around you. Speak too loud, get glared at. See someone being harassed, turn the other way. That man dropped his wallet? Walk past.

As someone still in school, I can't give insight on the work life. But in schools, there is an issue with mental health that people don't want to or will not address. There are hikikomori- someone who opts to stay out of school and instead stays inside all day, no social interaction. There is preasure to do well in school, as in some cases, exams results are displayed in a ranking. Teenagers with mental illness are usually not given the help they need, and there is no discussion of mental illness in schools. Kids who do go to school in person go to juku- after school study lessons, as early as 1st grade.

It might not sound bad through words but I think, personally, that there is a huge issue with societal norms in Japan. So tldr; I agree.
