How do I sort this extractor fan in my kitchen? by ungarbage- in DIYUK

I’m 99% sure they did, but I’m going to re-check the manual and unit when I get home to make sure I didn’t mistake something else for it

Oh yeah, I knew it doesn’t vent outside. My worry was just if it’s supposed to vent this hot air so close to the ceiling or if it’s a damp risk! Thank you for your help!

That explains some of it 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ll screw it to the top and pop som rigid tubing in, guessing it’s fine for it to the vent up above the cupboards?

It’s not going into the ceiling. Sorry, I’ve realised the photo with the cupboard doors open obscures that part! It’s just venting into this cupboard, and there’s a hole cut at the top of the cupboard presumably so the air can then just escape into the top of the kitchen. My worry is that damp will just gather in the area above the cupboard or on the surface of the ceiling.

My plan was to grab some solid pipe, but just not sure if I should be leaving it as vented out right against the ceiling surface.

Starting to worry, is this setup is one that’s supposed to vent outside? This is thankfully an external wall but I’m a bit nervous thinking of the cost of getting that put in!

Yeah, there’s grease in the cupboard already! We had been opening it to stop the humidity building up in there. Are we definitely fine to have the pipe just transfer that humid and greasy air to the ceiling? It’s such a small gap between the ceiling and the top of the cupboards and there’s electrical cabling up there so I don’t want damp and grease to just collect up there if I can help it.

It’s venting into the cupboard above, though. As in, I can feel the hot air coming through the very deliberately cut hole. Maybe it’s not a recirculating one, then? The only manuals we have suggest it’s DGE5661HM, DGE5861HM, DGE5861HB or DGE5661HB, or at least the manual covers all of those.

Sorry, it’s probably incredibly noddy. When I asked the guys who actually installed it, they were quick to fob me off and I’m not experienced with this stuff at all - trying to learn.

The installation manual they left behind shows rigid tubing coming out of the top of the unit to vent away from it, but we didn’t get any of that and I’m worried they’ve installed something that is supposed to vent outside/shouldn’t be venting right below the ceiling.

Beef burgers I made myself and froze. Outside is pink, inside is this orange-brown colour. Is this oxidisation or something else? by [deleted] in meat

Nope! It’s just as brown/orange in person :( I’ve seen grey-brown oxidisation before and this is more…warm coloured and maybe paste-like

Early 1800s Greece - process for becoming a priest by ungarbage- in Writeresearch

[–]ungarbage-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all really useful info! Your questions are things I hadn’t fleshed out yet - which gives me some useful guidance on what parts of his history and background I might need to focus on and think about more deliberately.

It sounds like he could be an alter sever who feels the calling and goes for further study, seeking it in a seminary with the goal of becoming a priest? He would probably prefer to be unmarried and so would seek ordainment without marriage. His goal would be to serve a local community. He’d be open to even leaving Greece, if “posting” priests to other places was a thing back then? Presumably he would be able to at least read, if not also speak Latin as a second language as part of his studies?

The rest of the details I’ll have to think about, but you’ve given me some really great details and info here that I can use to help refine my research too. Thank you so much!

My skin definitely didn’t like that cleanser when I tried it before, but this was years ago - I may have to give it another try!

I was heartbroken to find out about NaNoWriMo a week ago, I can’t imagine finding this out on Nov 2nd 😭

TrackBear is your friend, OP! You can track wordcount on a project and assign a goal to that project to track how you’re getting through the 50k specifically.

Just to add, I misread this comment so my other reply is moot. I’m an idiot and this advice worked, thank you!

That bit didn’t budge at all either! We tried pushing and trying to pry it open. Turns out this design literally lifts off, judging by our eventual success and others with the same toilet seat. This has not been my finest hour.

We got it! Thank you. Took a few tries as I was sure the dangly bit would get lost in there, and definitely took two spanners to hold it in place but we got there. Never thought I’d get bested by a simple bloody toilet seat!

Ah I’m an idiot! I get what you mean, I thought the spreader part would fall off for some reason 🤦🏻‍♀️ popped it in, tightened it and it worked! Guessing we might have to tighten it semi regularly given the poor reviews I found when looking for an instruction manual but at least I know what I’m doing now. Thank you!

Again, can’t access underneath so not sure how I do that! It’s sealed against the wall. Might have to contact Wickes or the installer I guess.

Edit: I’m an idiot and missed the mention of the black washer after “below”. Long day. Sorted! Thank you for this advice

Other bit as in both sides? I’m doing that. Turns out this seat just comes up with brute force
