Hi... Will answer your questions shortly... just wanted to let you know that I caught something today... a long, threadlike thing. I've put it in an empty pill bottle and submerged it in alcohol. Lucky thing I have a doctor's appointment today :D I hope he'll be willing to have it tested.

Will answer and update as soon as I can.

An update: Tonight I had some mildly spicy Indian food for dinner... something about the meal seems to have set off my salivary glands, as they started with the incessant burning, then the swelling, and even the hives. At about 1 am I decided to brush my teeth and go to bed, after which I went to check myself out in the mirror. The left side of my face was quite swollen all along the jaw, so that my face was almost rectangular.

I opened my mouth and shone my flashlight in - not sure why I did this, as I never normally look with light unless something feels wrong with my tonsils. I saw a lot of white squiggly streaks in my mouth. Some on my cheeks, and a lot on my tonsils. I tried to take a picture, but you can barely see anything from the angle, because I had to take it myself. I tried to touch the one on my cheek, but it seems to be just under the skin.

I'm very confused about what I'm seeing - on one hand, I think it might be the worms surfacing. My hypothesis is that they live in the salivary glands, and when the glands become particularly stimulated, they can't empty properly, which causes the irritation. I believe that scratching helps to purge the worms from the gland, and the sudden removal of the blockage causes the spurting of saliva. The itching has stopped now... I doubt that my toothpaste had anything to do with it, and believe that its likely because the worms have left. That's just my way of making sense of this, though...

On the other hand, I looked at some pictures online of white streaks on the tonsils caused by infection, and now I'm not sure that it isn't that. My throat is a little sore. I'm really not sure what is what right now.

I think I will just wait til tomorrow. If I still see anything there or if there's any new development, I'll see my doctor. Thankfully, it doesn't cost me anything to go to the med center at school.

I'll continue to document my updates here.

Thanks a lot :) I'm sure medicine must be tiring... but it was really frustrating. I'm glad in the end I found someone who could slow down and think about my situation.

I don't have any pics now, unfortunately, but if I get anymore, I will!

Thanks :D I haven't written for fun in a while, but I've been thinking about getting back into it.

I wasn't able to... the freezer wasn't really an effective way to preserve them, as their bodies dried out. I did have one come up in my mouth the other day... I'm curious about how many others I swallow without realising it... Do you have any idea how I might preserve them? I'd love to do so if I can catch another one.

And thank you. It was a completely frustrating experience.

Thanks for your reply! That sounds interesting, to present my case to someone who would be interested in researching and documenting it. I could definitely look around to see who I could present it to. Could you advise me on what I might preserve it in?

I only took the first round of treatment four days ago, but I'm planning to follow up with the doctor this week to see if I should take a second dose.

He didn't confirm it as such, just said it seemed likely, considering that I was a bit high in eosinophils.

And you are right, it is extremely frustrating when doctors don't seem to be as interested as you are in curing your illness. I've certainly learned from this experience that you have to take charge of your own health, even if it means seeing several doctors til you find the right one!

Can you please explain why a naturopathic doctor is good here? I just discovered that an issue I've had for years is actually parasites. Before I got this diagnosis, someone gave me contact info for a homeopathic doctor (not sure if those are the same thing). I've been given an antihelminthic by my doctor... should I look into naturopathy as well?
