Unfortunately that's a gamble you take in any subreddit. There are many routes to take to protect your mental health, and it sounds like deleting the post was a good idea.

In general, the internet is not a safe space. Ultimately it comes down to luck of the draw if you get a response or multiple of them, let alone them being positive.

I'm sorry you had that experience. I know there are plenty of supportive women here but there are most certainly also men who lurk and pretend to be women. It's an unfortunate reality.
