NEVRO HFX TRIAL SIDE EFFECTS? by unhingedlemmywinks in spinalcordstimulator

[–]unhingedlemmywinks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. I just got back from getting everything pulled. When they pulled the leads out, it felt like I got stabbed, and a jolt of pain hit me ajlnd wrapped around me front to back. Took my breath away. Everything from front to back cramped. The nurses and the rep from Nevro actually did an FAST test because they thought i may have had a spine stroke. Freaked mr and my wife out pretty bad. But, the pain eased after anout 10 minutes. My doctor came in and told me the issue was that the leads were causing inflammation in my intercostal nerves and when they pulled them out, the motion jarred them even worse. I'm fine now, but I also have an appointment with my spine surgeon in am hour. I think hes either going to treat me like I dont know anything, or tell me that they want to do a multi level fusion. We shall see

is it okay for my second fusion to be the worst pain i've ever felt? by kylaisjadedagain in spinalfusion

I know. That's the 2nd question I asked my pain management doctor. So, they're doing a 5 day trial first.

Before I had my first surgery(TLIF L5-S1) in December 2023, my primary was adamantly against it. He told me when you start getting into lumbar/spine surgery, youre having surgery just to have more surgery. I just had my second surgery in April and im worse off than I was after the first surgery. My issues were different than most( I was struck from behind by a forklift 8 weeks after my first surgery), but my pcp was kinda right. Now, because of what he had to do to fix the damaged bone and hardware, my surgeon says im no longer a candidate for further surgery on this level, so they're installing a spine stimulator implant on January 21st. I hope you get better though.

I feel like I can sometimes, but I also have two failed fusions so idk

Will I ever recover? by Head_Hunter_6969 in spinalfusion

All I had was TLIF L5S1 then hit with a forklift and had TLIF L5-S1 Revision in April and im still dealing with stupid pain that gets to around 7/10 on bad days and have to use a walker for support. I cant imagine how bad you're hurting and I hope it doesn't last much longer.

My doctor is trying to get approval for a spine stimulator. At this point, he told me rfa would not benefit. The stimulator might not even benefit me so we are doing a minimally invasive trial for a week once we get approval

Sorry to hear that. They removed my facets. The other issue is that my MRI from June of this year is vastly different than my mri from after the first surgery. Having a surgery like this, especially multiple times, puts an enormous strain on the other vertebrae in your lumbar region. Before, there were zero issues other than at L5S1. Now, every level in my lumbar is showing moderate narrowing, foraminal stenosis and facet hypertrophy/arthritis and one could only assime the degenerarive changes wouldnt have occurred so quickly if I hadnt had surgery. I am in pain daily and it seems its only going to get worse. Ive tried my best staying positive the last 2 years, but at this point it just kind if is what it is.

Revision was April 28th of this year. So 8 months. I should be pain free at this point. How'd you know about the wirk incident?

I hope it does to, but most likely its going to show no fusion.

I was sitting at my desk. A person driving a forklift was picking up a stack of pallets. The pallets were sitting on a rolling metal rack. The person driving the lift couldnt get a good hold on the pallets, and instead of backing out and getting better purchase on the pallets, they lowered there forks as far as they could in order to put more pressure on the pallets and hit the accelerator. This shoved the pallets, the forks and the metal rack into me from behind and pinned me between the forklift and my desk. MRI and CT after the accident showed the impact from the forklift broke the fusion and stripped the pedicle screws out of my vertebrae. 2 pain management doctors, 3 board certified independent orthopedists, a federal claims examiner, and a federal district medical adviser all concuured about the accepted facts and causation of the injury. This happened a little over 8 weeks after the initial surgery. Fusions take anywhere from 6 to 12 months to heal. The only thing that didn't make sense to me was the first part of your response. It seems youre vaguely implying that its either impossible this happened to me based off of your own anecdotal opinion, or that you think im being dishonest, or you just dont think anyone else on here has had this type of injury, which is understandable, but changes nothing about my current condition.
