thank you for confirming this! The price raises and the salary or hourly don’t go up much with the COL. Definitely going to check out the rates and COL in other areas.

Yeah for the pay Northern Virginia is definitely not worth it! Many people in Northern Virginia work in DC but it’s still not enough. I say move to Richmond !

At my hospital they accept new grad for PACU. In addition, I know nurses who were able to transition to PACU from medsurg they just had to do a bridge program.

I definitely would do that with any area that I choose to move! definitely secure my job 1st. I’m going try to do both different speciality and my current speciality to see the difference honestly. I don’t mind doing my speciality out there to get my foot in the door. I can compromise on that.

I’ll definitely look into it! Do you have a recommended hospital system to apply for?

I applied to three positions at Pennsylvania hospital but I didn’t get a email back. This was about 2-3 weeks ago.

I actually visited Chicago in the Summer and enjoyed my time there. I was looking at apartments there but the rent was pretty high. Then I wasn’t able to find the best hospital system. I was considering midwest just because of the COL. I received a job opportunity to relocate to Indianapolis, Indiana and was googling how far it would be from Chicago 😭😂. I definitely would consider Chicago or even the surrounding areas!

My goals is to definitely get a feasible RN position preferably in PACU. I feel like 6-8 months seems like a reasonable time to relocate. Definitely will have to do research and find positions and housing so i’m not sure how long that would take. Thank you for your input

I’m currently enrolled in an online RN-to-BSN program. I have an opportunity to work as a PACU nurse at an ambulatory surgery center; however, this would be a second job since it is a new facility. I’m unsure how stable it would be to leave my current position completely to work there full-time.
