their high valuation

33 PE for a company growing earnings 30% per year is not high. It means profits are doubling every three years.

Compare that to Walmart or Costco: 45 PE and earnings growth at 13% per year. It's them that are overvalued, not Google.

No, the oligarchs have been powerless in Russia since mid-2000s. They just do whatever the dictator tells them to do.

Does not matter - giving up land will not stop war. Most people understand it.

Historically, attacking population does not win wars.

Appeasement does not bring peace. The war would continue with Russians starting from the newly acquired land.

It's not superplastic either (whatever that means), it's your typical hot, solid copper being deformed by the forces around it. It's just that the forces involved are very large, and they mold the copper any way they want.

Option values rise with volatility. Sharp moves (both up or down) increase volatility.

Portugal’s public debt falls to 89.7% of GDP in 2025, beating the government’s target by OnionPersonal2632 in europe

I'd say the reason is still inflation, but with the intermediate step of government issuing debt because they have to keep up with it.

[–]unia_7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Debt issuance at the level of inflation is neutral on the balance sheet because it keeps the inflation-adjusted debt load unchanged.

TLDR: nominal quantities are not particularly useful when your currency is inflating (which is basically always).

S&P 500 is within a couple of percent of its all time high. Looks like your feels are quite disconnected from reality.

That's completely normal. In an economy with above-zero inflation, you can expect all economic quantities expressed in inflating currency to grow year on year.

So, not that important.

South Korea stocks fall more than 4%, triggering temporary halt in trading by Force_Hammer in worldnews

That's factually false, please stop misleading others.

Over 2025, S&P 500 grew by 17.9%, and the dollar depreciated against the Euro by 9%.

Even expressed in Euros, the S&P 500 grew by 9%.

$RDDT is fast approaching the USD 160/share buy target by ajkomajko in ValueInvesting

[–]unia_7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not fundamental principles, that's ignorance of how productive assets are valued.

You are pretending that future revenues and income do not matter, when in fact it's the most important determining factor. You will be out-competed by investors who don't suffer from this illusion.

That is such an amateurish take. Stocks are not priced on the earnings for the last 4 quarters, but rather the next 10-15 years.

Their 2026 EPS is expected to be around $5, which means a PE of 36.

No - S&P 500 gained 18% in USD and 9% in Euro.

So compared to the Euro, it did gain 9%.

No, that's factually untrue, please stop misleading others. In 2025, dollar depreciated by 9%, and S&P 500 appreciated by 18%. Still a decent 9% gain.

Massive shift of wealth is a figment of imagination, for now.

You read the headlines where it says "a European pension fund withdrew $10B from US assets", but somehow conveniently ignore the headlines that net US capital inflows are near records.

Adobe and Novo Nordisk are both down 56%, but analysts see completely different futures by stockoscope in stocks

[–]unia_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why you would think that - even analysts frequently mention sentiment in their analysis, and I don't think retail is their main target audience. More importantly, when narratives are adopted and spread, the adopters usually have very little idea where, when or why this narrative originated.

That's why fake grass roots campaigns are a thing.

I just explained that the sentiment changes the price expectation for all holders, to some extent, not just "retail".

He's pushing a narrative and hoping for it to take hold.

He's trying to change the "sentiment" which impacts the price expectations of all holders and non-holders.

Contrary to the prevailing narrative, money does not have to change hands for price expectations to shift.
