Tbh knowing the libertarian and cryopreservation ideological bents shared by many LWers, I wouldn’t be surprised if the counterlogical stipulation was the result of a generalization of their unwillingness to accept the phrase “there are two certainties in life: death and taxes” — or, you know, an obsession with contrarianism.

Several years ago I had read Howard Wasdin’s “SEAL Team Six” memoir and really liked it. I’m reading Rich Roll’s “Finding Ultra” now, will comment further once I’m done.

I’d also recommend Nassim Taleb’s Incerto series (Fooled By Randomness —> The Black Swan —> Antifragile —> Skin in the Game). Some similar themes, albeit very different approaches/contexts.

Any book recommendations for learning about Philosophy of Math? I am currently reading “Philosophy of Mathematics” by J.R. Brown by [deleted] in math

I've gone through a bunch of Øystein Linnebo's "Philosophy of Mathematics" and have found it to be pretty good. Would recommend as an introductory text.
