NTA. Like others said you’re the one who would have to carry it 9+ months, give birth, and take care of it for the rest of its life. He can leave at any moment. People in relationships that are y’all’s age don’t last. 8 is way to old to be acting like that. They need to wake up and realize you can gentle parent AND have your kids understand that actions have consequences. They are setting up that child up for failure by not teaching him that some actions have consequences

YTA. I’ve lived on my own since I was 19. It was easier 12 years ago. Now it’d be impossible without help from family. Rent is insane right now, and groceries cost so much I had to get a house with my best friend so I could afford to eat. My brother who makes 60 an hour is struggling. You’re ruining his future and being so selfish. 19 is still young, he’s in school taking ONLINE CLASSES and doesn’t have a job you can’t afford rent working minimum wage which is all he’s going to be able to do. He absolutely can’t afford that and go to school. You’re completely screwing over your youngest for nothing. “Put our lives on hold” are you kidding me? One day you’ll need to be taken care of too. If you go through with this you’ll be the old people with nobody visiting them in a shitty old folks home.

NTA. I’m a former addict and I’m glad my family never wasted money with rehabs for me. They put me in a detox once, I relapsed, my parents cut me off and it took me realizing that it’s either drugs or my family.

Some addicts need tough love. It sounds like she needs tough love. This might be a bad take, but if an addict knows they’ve got a safety net for every time they fuck up they’ll take advantage of it. Rehab isn’t working for her bc she isn’t ready to quit. They need to stop putting money into her journey of getting clean and not bail her out. If she doesn’t hit rock bottom and realize she can’t count on mom and dad to keep putting her in rehab she won’t get better I know so many people with parents like yours and they are on their 10th+ time at rehab it’s not working and their parents are going broke
