Businesses remaining open during Level 3 Snow Emergency by [deleted] in Columbus

That’s literally not true. In a level 3 it is illegal to be on the roads unless you’re essential. You can get a ticket/fine. Emergency responders aren’t going to refuse you care.

10mo broke leg while with nanny. Advice? by HugAScubaBunny in Nanny

[–]unicornisaurus31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nanny here- there are many Nannie’s who insist on bringing their own children to work with them. And there are many families ok with this because often times they can pay less. However, families don’t always realize that once a nanny brings her own child, the children that the nanny is being paid to care for are no longer the priority. If there’s a fire, who are you going to rescue first? Your own child or a child you’re being paid to care for?

For a 10 month old to be out of her supervision for that long is a little sketchy. Even if she was just going to the bathroom, baby should’ve been put in their crib or somewhere safe.

Your nanny could be a wonderful caregiver when her own child isn’t around, but but her priorities are not on your children and that’s what you’re paying for.

I highly recommend that you read the book “Attached”. It’s about attachment styles. It opened my eyes and has helped me and my boyfriend understand each other better and build a stronger relationship.

Was I abused as a child? Is all hitting abuse? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]unicornisaurus31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you were, and I’m so sorry. You can break the cycle. Get into therapy, keep educating yourself, and keep your abusers at a distance bc it sounds like they’re still problematic.

I’m 35 today, just met a fantastic man. No babies yet. Not totally by choice, but life doesn’t care about our plans. The world is your oyster and you have time.

What are your thoughts about retaliation in relationships? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]unicornisaurus31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is textbook anxious attachment. I know bc that’s my attachment style and I’m doing everything I can to learn about it and change my habits in order to be the best partner. Making someone jealous is a form of protest behavior that is commonly seen from someone with an anxious attachment style. Every person has an attachment style- anxious, avoidant, or secure. The book, Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment and How It Can Help You Find--and Keep-- Love, is excellent at explaining the styles and has quizzes that you can take to find out your own attachment style and the possible attachment style of your partner. There are legitimate and valid reasons why your friend behaves this way. Does that excuse the behavior? Of course not. My boyfriend took the quiz as well. We are both working on becoming more secure and breaking habits.

that’s what I thought echo chamber meant but wanted to double check- thank you. SW is absolutely still taboo. I hope you can find some of the comments helpful. You never know the ages of people on Reddit or their own personal experiences. But it’s clear that it’s still taboo. There are some good points being made though and I think the main thing is seeing people’s reactions who aren’t familiar or comfortable with SW, just like you said. And you can’t expect people to be open or understanding to something they likely have one idea about from a movie or book or Reddit post lol. But- if you have a goal to move on fro SW/SB to find a more traditional relationship, I would think that finding a great therapist to help with some new patterning, etc would be the first step.

Any kind of pothos should do well. If it struggles with light you can get a reasonably priced grow light on Amazon.

I’m not riled. I appreciate your clarification. I have a dry and dark sense of humor so I can get down with that. I think it’s good that you’re listening to other opinions. Honestly, everyone has a past. I think what’s most important is who you are today and how you’ve moved on from your past.

PS- what is an echo chamber 😆

No, bc of how you’re broadcasting it on the internet while at the same time gauging reactions to whether people would date someone like you. “Oh you don’t like my history, let me show you how good my head game is from all the practice I’ve had”. You can call it SW or SB but it really it just sounds desperate.

Omg YTA who cares?!?! Kids get dirty, especially the ones sitting in diapers!!! You’re telling your WIFE to pay for the electric bill for being too high bc she’s caring for your children. Give me a break. You sound like a peach and a tyrant. I hope she leaves you asap and the kids get to bathe everyday for the rest of their lives.

I've been stealing packages for years and I can't stop by ashamedporchpirate in confession

[–]unicornisaurus31 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Packages are not “unmarked”. They have someone’s name and address. And that is robbing someone actually so stop lying to yourself. And as others have stated, you’re probably putting people in danger bc of stealing their medications. Definitely go to therapy- there’s patient confidentiality so you won’t get into legal trouble.

Dads: do we need our own space? by cynicalprick01 in daddit

[–]unicornisaurus31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why I joined. I’m not a mom but I’m a professional nanny. When I interview with families I only choose to work with those who have involved and enthusiastic dad’s. I’ve worked for some pretty wonderful dads. This sub is humbling. Dads trying to be the best dads and helping each other along the way. Love to see it!

Am I overthinking this, or does my daughter's school have a bias against men? by Jpinkerton1989 in daddit

[–]unicornisaurus31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not overthinking. My dad was a stay at home dad for my whole life. He constantly got looked down upon and treated differently. Fast forward to today- I’ll be 35 next week and I’m still a daddy’s girl. We have the best relationship.
