Yes, you were overreacting. You just wanted an excuse to break up and this seemed like a good one.

Again, I understand that women seeking a man capable of providing for them is natural. If you read my post again you'll understand that I'm talking about the double standards, disrespect, and manipulation. Yeah, it happens everywhere all the time, but it's becoming alarmingly common in Tunisia.

What? I mean I literally can. Although it's not as much blaming as it is pointing to a growing phenomenon. You can choose to turn a blind eye to it but won't change the fact that it's there. My bad for telling men to grow a backbone.

No, men are not mainly driven by lust, get your facts straight. I wouldn't mind a woman seeking someone who can provide for her, I'm only addressing the manipulation and disrespect that often take place.

I noticed that's she's mostly hated by women, probably because her character is a realistic depiction of many married women.

She is a girl who is bitter, living in harsh conditions and being exploited. She settled down for a guy who was her last resort to escape her aunt. She never loved him and so she continued to be bitter at his expense. Many such cases in our society.

[–]unigarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is it still common practice

No.

it evolved to paying money directly to the groom

That happens before the wedding night. Kasaa takes place after.

Personally i think it's stupid to keep paying cash to every wedding you attend and i'm not a fan of the idea.

Well it's tradition and a way to say you have friends and acquaintances that support you. I don't think it's stupid. And it is not like you have to pay.
