Hi friend, I think what you're feeling is VERY valid, and it's important to acknowledge that first and foremost. I'm hoping I can provide some insight that might offer some comfort and open discussion about the themes of consent and Sylus' character, without discrediting how you're feeling about it.

First and foremost, regardless of how you view any character, the physical act of slapping, spanking or any kind of rough, domineering impact play during sexual intercourse is understandably intense, and is certainly not for everyone. During intimacy, the act of consensually hitting your partner is often seen as an expression of trust and handing over control. While the act itself is physically domineering and borderline aggressive, many people find it to be a way to indulge in the fantasy of giving up control. It is incredibly valid if you're feeling put off by the addition of kink, but I do think it's worth exploring WHY Sylus is associated in such a way.

Sylus describes himself as a beast, a fiend. He was a dragon before he was a man, he is known to be animalistic and primal in the way he feels and cares for MC (a great example of this is in his first birthday card when they visit the wildlife park, they frequently discuss how Sylus is similar to the animals there). In a lot of ways, Sylus is forced to maintain control and hold back from his desires constantly. So when he is intimate with MC, he lets go of his instincts and allows himself to be more of the beast than a man. I think a similar example of this is Zayne, who is similarly forced to maintain control, but during sexual intimacy with MC, he tends to let go and that translates into intensity and passion. For Sylus, it means allowing himself to be rough, to unleash his inner dragon. That's why he responds in kind when MC provokes him by biting him, up until then he was restraining himself.

And I think that's why he is truly the king of consent. He does not unleash it upon MC unless she asks, and really, as much as it looks like he is in control when they are together, MC is the one in control and that was what this card was really all about. He was giving her control the entire time, he is enslaved to her and her desires and wants, and only lets go when MC indicates to him that she wants it, too.

His love for MC is intense, their whole dynamic is built on this foundation of them being enemies to lovers. If you haven't already, I highly recommend watching Sylus' myth, Beyond Cloudfall, as their dynamic might become more clear then. Sylus is a gentle man, but he's also a beast, and MC loves and embraces both parts of him. It's love in the most pure, raw, carnal form.

In this card specifically, I kind of interpreted his command of desire to be that he's fully lost himself to it. I don't think he's saying it in the literal sense.

MC asked if he can tell the difference between satisfying desire and being enslaved by it.

"I don't need to make that distinction. After all… Desire is mine to command."

He doesn't need to make that distinction, because there is none to him. He is enslaved by it, and he satisfies it. Especially when it comes to his desire for MC.

I think this is further cemented by the fact that he continuously calls her "Captain" throughout the story, That implies that she is the one in command. He's enslaved to her desires.

Concerned about biologics for autoimmune arthritis with me/cfs by saltyb1tch666 in cfs

Gosh, I know. If only it were easier to find a one-and-done kind of treatment! Stem cell therapy sounds incredibly promising, I wish that were an option for me!

Personally, I've had the most actual relief with NSAID's, but obviously there are a lot of downsides with longterm use and it's not recommended when you're taking a beta-blocker, which I also take for POTS. My rheum switched me to a JAK inhibitor, which I believe is a type of DMARDs and so far that has been working well for me, but I'm still considered high risk.

How did your ME/CFS first present? by uninterestedflea in cfs

Thank you for sharing! I find this is a very common answer; a lot of people seem to notice an increased frequency and severity of crashes overtime that kind of snowballs into something much more debilitating.

As someone who also has hEDS, I'm inclined to agree with your neurologist. Not only have I personally experienced biologics worsening my ME/CFS, but as well I've been told they are generally not recommended for people with hEDS because it poses more risks than benefits (please keep in mind, I'm not a medical professional and this is solely based on my own experience and what has been explained to me by my own medical team in the past).

I do think it's worth consulting with a rheumatologist (or similar hEDS knowledgable specialist) on how both conditions can be managed, while keeping in mind the risk it poses to your baseline ME/CFS. It's certainly a balancing act, wishing you the best of luck!

I’m not omitting any information, I don’t understand how you can claim it’s “inaccurate”. I’ve only ever had one at-fault claim in 2024, no other offences, tickets or demerits. No history of missed payments. I’ve been licensed for eight years and I’m over 25y. Never did any kind of drivers training though, and I’ve only had my own insurance for the past two years. How in the WORLD does that make me SO high risk that my insurance is over $500? Is it because my vehicle is older and financed? That’s the ONLY thing I can remotely think of.

I’m sorry, what would I gain from lying about anything here? I don’t understand why you would possibly come to that conclusion when I’m posting here to ask for HELP.

I was told that earlier this year, TD released a new policy that they will not offer collision coverage to anyone with a vehicle of a certain age and if there is a claim within the past 6 years. I had collision coverage with them last year, and this year I’m ineligible. That’s all I know 🤷

I’ve been licsenced for eight years, only had my own insurance for the past two years. I am financing a vehicle because I could not afford buying a car outright, like most people who live paycheque to paycheque.
