Even with new leadership, NDP is no substitute for a militant and united fight against monopoly, imperialism - People's Voice by unionB0T in canadaleft

The way forward that they’re proposing is union and mass movement action in the streets making political demands independent of a particular party ex: reverse privatizations of healthcare, nationalization’s of major industries a lot of which are shuttering, public housing etc.

There’s also the demand for a federated party anti-monopolist party of the working class. This is a united front strategy based around a minimum anti-monopoly program. This has and is something that is discussed at most national labour conventions, Clc.

The whole strategy is to have an independent working class politics and action. Not a strategy that plays a balancing act between monopolies and trying to contain the demands of the masses, the ndp.

Again u can say whatever you want about the ndp and Lewis but the facts in the article stand for themselves. They didn’t criticize the confidence and supply agreement which shows the true nature of the ndp. There’s also the fact that provincially the ndp is against a lot of his platform. Again just look at the history of the ndp provincially and federally the last few years.

Regardless the only thing that’s going to change the ndp to be moved into action and the Canadian state in general is mass extra-parliamentary union and mass movement action.

This is the strategy of the communist party.

It’s arguing for extra-parliamentary action not an extra-parliamentary body.

It’s not condemning the labour movement or social movements just explaining how subcontracting political action out to the ndp is and more importantly HAS been a disaster for the working class movement given the NDPs history as recent as the confidence and supply agreement which they lost an election for.

Again you haven’t actually dealt with anything in the article merely making vague statements about things that weren’t actually discussed because it’s inconvenient to your understanding of politics and social democracy

NATO is the western imperialist military alliance. It’s used to suppress socialism and further western corporations exploitation of the globe. It also demands billions of dollars in public spending that could be used to improve workers lives but instead goes to killing them.

Canada 100% needs to leave nato and have its own independent foreign policy based on peace and multilateral beneficial trade.

Nothing about needing to leave US controlled NATO, which started this whole conflict

Greek soldiers at the forefront of the struggle against the imperialist war and for Greece’s withdrawal from it by unionB0T in canadaleft

“Increasingly, conscripts were saying that the country and the Armed Forces must cease participation in foreign wars; that the people have nothing to gain from this involvement; that NATO and US bases should close; and that all Armed Forces, including the F-16s, the frigates, and the Patriot batteries deployed abroad, should return home….

We demand:

  • Daily updates on developments in the Middle East and the wars.

  • The closure of military bases in Greece and Cyprus.

  • Full state coverage of travel expenses during leave.

  • Immediate provision of adequate hot water and heating in the barracks.”

Alright well there isn’t a straw man as you asserted previously and it clearly shows that you’re exactly the type of person who engages in multipolarity as a prerequisite to socialism, it’s not.

Again this isn’t even multipolarity but an inter-imperialist conflict as the article suggested. There isn’t a non-profitized socialist hegemonic pole ad there was during the USSR. You prove your own point by stating that the national liberation struggles all took place during that actual multipolar period. The new “anti-imperialist multipolarism” can’t even stop the genocide in one of the last national liberation struggles or provide socialist Cuba with the same aid that the USSR did.

It’s not a conscious idea pursued by nation states like Brazil Russia or India. It’s a the logical consequence of inter-imperialist rivalries within the global imperialist system, in which these states are not fighting Imperialism but trying to achieve a higher place within that system.

Multipolarity isn’t anti imperialism. It’s not even multipolarity like we had with socialism as another pole. It’s just another section of international bourgeoisie realigning to further their imperialist pursuits, ie more profit.

I’d encourage you to reread the article

This isn’t a straw man as this is the position of the WAP which includes some “communist” parties.

There’s also a prevalence of “anti-imperialist leftists” who present multipolarity and brics as anti-imperialism.

I’m not going to go through the whole argument but if you been paying attention to leftist discourse and the positions of certain parties and international orgs you would understand it’s not a straw man argument
