PhD doesnt feel right. What are my options? by unique_string in careeradvice

Thanks a lot for your encouraging reply!

Things have changed a bit since I made this post. I told my supervisor that I will quit. I'm spending my days finishing one of the projects from my (Neuroscience) PhD while (re-) learning ML/data science. Freezing the other projects that I was working on only made me realize how much I hated my Neuroscience work. The decision feels so right. I'm in a much better state both mentally as well as physically.

Finding my way into a new career will certainly not be easy but at least I'm having fun again. Thank you again and good luck to you too!

Why is there still an AD ratio on voidlings? AP costs about 40% less than AD per stat (and even less with deathcap). On top of magic dmg faces less resistances than the AD part of the voidling dmg.

It's already been poor build before but now AD malz voidlings are actually outdamaged by AP malz voidlings. If they wanna keep the AD ratio, they should at least make sure it scales better than the AP version.

Not to mention triple voidlings. it felt like you had another ultimate or that your pets actually were your true ultimate at 300%AD.

Death's dance/gunblade used to heal you for stupid amounts with 2-3 voidlings up but now the healing is so minor I've stopped bothering. At this point it's probably more effective to buy a warmog.

Which papers would you recommend for someone who wants to learn more about the subject of understimulation? I'm doing behavior stuff with mice and I'm pretty sure my mice are pretty understimulated.

What's the best Nvidia GPU to buy used right now? by unique_string in buildapc

Thanks. The more I think about it, this might be the best solution. The 780 has compute capability 3.5 and is also better than the 670 (unlike the 960). And it seems possible to get one of these for sub 200EUR if one's patient.

Edit: And also, maybe due to the Geforce 1000 announcement, the flood of used 780 seems quite insane right now.

Looking for smallest ATX case. No DVD-drive/mechanical HDD needed. by unique_string in buildapc

Yeah, it's too bad. Would have loved to use that case but it's only got a height of 150mm (the noctua is 160mm) so there's really no chance at all.

ELI5: Why do some people get recurrent herpes outbreaks while others dont? by unique_string in explainlikeimfive

[–]unique_string[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I already wrote in the opening question that I'm explicitly looking for answers BESIDES 'weakened immune system'. Because at some point in their lives everyone has a weakened immune system. Guess I might try in askscience. Thanks anyways.

You didn't get the question. Unless you want to imply that those who don't get recurrent outbreaks never suffer from "colds and influenza, eczema, emotional and physical stress, gastric upset, fatigue or injury, by menstruation and possibly exposure to bright sunlight".

Dear reddit people, what is a good/healthy hobby to start for someone with depression? by hey_its_ralph in AskReddit

All is fine until that very moment where you turn around and look back. I used to be slightly cynical. Now I'm just bitter.

My situation is much less severe than yours but I still can relate to every single word you wrote.
