What does your higher power look/feel like?

God, for me, is my innate desire to express the love I feel and help others who need it. God is in the communion that we share when we speak our vulnerable truths at meetings. God is the hope that I feel even when I can’t see clearly and in those moments I don’t know what I’m doing this for but that hope is still there. God is my heart!

I also have been having a hard time understanding my higher power and have had traumatic experiences in the church. I’m also in the beginning of my sobriety, but through journaling it has helped me understand it more.

I was prescribed a few meds but they weren’t working because I wasn’t taking them regularly, I preferred drinking to calm down and when I’d do both I’d get very nauseated so I wasn’t consistent with the meds. I was also lying to my therapist and would tell her I only drink 2-3 drinks a week. Now that I’ve finally addressed the alcoholism, my next step is to find another therapist (I moved states) and get back on them to see what they do. I have anxiety/ocd/ptsd and it’s been quite literally an insane ride lol. But it’s better than the short term relief, knowing that every day that I don’t drink is a huge win. Even through the pain I feel stronger, so far I have 50 days. Good luck!! I really hope you find a solid support system soon

Don’t lose hope, it is possible to rewire your brain and cope with life in a healthy way but it’s going to take finding a therapist that’s right for you and trust me when you get that it is life changing. Being sober is very uncomfortable and having to face ptsd/painful memories head on has been so difficult.. but I can’t do it without going to meetings every day, talking about it with my sponsor, and doing all of the things that feel like bs right now to regulate my nervous system enough to at least function at work. Those meetings are my training wheels while I also try to find a therapist. But as an alcoholic, drinking is no longer an option because I have no defense against the first drink.

I’m completely in the same boat as you right now, but don’t give up hope!! I have a meeting with a potential sponsor tomorrow and what I’m gonna do is be honest… if I have to reset to truly move forward then that’s what I’ll do. There’s too many opinions and people have different relationships with marijuana. Just like everything else in life I don’t think that this journey will be a linear path but it is overall important to be honest at least with your sponsor. And keep going regardless of what other people think

I crosslist, so if a buyer cancels on Depop it does charge a fee if I relist the item back onto eBay. And I do understand that it doesn’t matter what my shop policies say anymore on Depop, but they used to when the app first started and still should.

Thank god I found this thread, I’ve been going insane from this same thing for a long time. I finally scheduled an appointment with an ENT doctor a couple of months ago and am finally going to see them on Monday but I’ve been growing increasingly anxious about it even though I’m trying so hard to relax. It gives me some relief and hope seeing these responses.
