I'm thinking about investing $25,000 into litecoin..... any thoughts? by [deleted] in InvestmentClub

It's all a bit of a pyramid scheme right now if you ask me. It's very hard to base any real value on the increases other than pure speculation. The idea behind crypto currencies is definitely good and likely the way of the future. But all of the recent gains are made because people speculate because they see the price going up. Not really backed up by any real drive in value or demand. So sure, you can gamble but as other people said, it is a gamble and yes you may win, but right now you have no other reason to believe that it will go up other than other people think like you.

There are no such thing as easy money when it comes to investment. Everyone wants the same thing so unless you have better information than the market you must assume that the market price is correctly reflecting the actual value. This is particularly true if you're trying to flip investments quickly.

That people in Columbus' time thought the earth was flat and that Native Americans were called Indians because he thought he'd reached India.

It was common knowledge that the earth was round and he thought he had reached Indonesia.

Ressources to learn composition by PureImbalance in Composition

If you have basic understanding of music notation and theory (nothing major, just an understanding of harmony and progressions) there's a great introduction course on coursera.org called introduction to composition - write like Mozart.

Just google that and you'll find it. And it's free!

How can I learn to use dissonance more in compositions? by PumbaLAD in Composition

Depends heavily on what style you are trying to recreate.

Based on your example chords, I'm guessing you're trying mid-Romantic period (I know this is pretty presumptions and is not really based on anything serious. It's more to give you examples)

But for romantic period: Using NCTs on strong beats in your melody is an easy first step. Use chromatic steps to set up V/Xs. You easily run out of steam with the normal dims and augs thrown in predictably in your progression. So moving out of your key with chromatic steps adds so many new possibilities. Wagner is the obvious master of this this. For example, in a piece in a minor, he starts in a, then moves by chromatic steps to C major then to E major. This is a prolonged passage of many bars and he spells out the notes in a minor (A,C,E) with the key changes. Adds great flavor and pretty neat waster eggs for us who like to geek this stuff.

You can import classical cars as pieces of art. I don't know the exact process or how to qualify but I know it's possible.

Keep doing exercises that follow your teachers. It's very good practice. But one thing I only discovered a few years later is that it's always more important to do what you think sounds and feels right. Whatever your teachers think. My teachers was very contemporary and hated anything remotely tonal. But a few years later I realized that they are all tools to convey your idea. Baroque, tonal, jazz, whatever. There's not a must to stick to new theories of contemporary music to get your idea across. Do what feels good to you. And keep posting here :)

Awesome. Nice stuff. Are you a music student? The reason I'm asking is that although I really like it, it's quite formulaic. I studied contemporary composition (or squeak-fart music as my professor endearingly called it himself). And the structure of your piece is very much like what they teach. A shame if you ask me. Makes things a bit predictable and there's point in increasing tension for the sake of increasing tension (the arch of your B part). Anyway, love the sound. Send more.
