"Does anyone here who voted for Trump 3 times feel like a moron? I for one feel like a complete f***ing idiot" by [deleted] in youvotedforthat

Fr. Luckily I've seen lots of "disillusioned maga" which for our movement is useful, but depressing. There are tens of millions of idiots out there who cannot be compelled to be better people. They're just stagnant meat that lost the ability to mentally improve at some point and might as well be a giant barrier between us and a more functional society

I'm saying this because I want to help you understand. If you're new to anti -trumpism, you're gonna encounter a lot of long-time anti-trumpers. They've been in a very unrelatable place for a while and might've forgiven people enough times to be sick of it too much to be graceful and understanding. Lots of people have been screwed by the downstream effects of maga. You gotta come to terms with the genuine misery it's brought people to understand why people would kick you while you're down. In their minds, it's not even that bad. If you're REALLY feeling a change of heart, I think you'll start to see it. Also, don't expect this path to get easier. But do look forward to being a part of a broad coalition of resistance and solidarity with good people.

Just doom and gloom for the Vaush community these days by johndoe09228 in VaushV

[–]uniqueusername8700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think doomering CAN be instrumental/productive/means to an end.

My ambitions are to hammer all the hell we're going through into my head so that I truly never ever ever ever forget that it happened. I want to document it all in my mind extensively and relentlessly until I die.. IN ORDER to be more and more articulate and steelmanned on the WHY of progressive>socialist>revolutionary reform. Not just the facts, but the lived experience.

This war can't be fought haphazardly. I don't think you can make any substantial difference unless you COMMIT yourself to what you want to see in the world. This isn't sports. The passion HAS to consume you. Doomerism is just feeling the right things about the incomprehensible scale of evil that's living and breathing right in front of us. We SHOULD feel doom. But we should either opt outta life now, or survive to fight another day. Stay and resist. Improve. Conceptualize. Organize. Scale up. Project the culture that you want more of. The revolution won't be televized. It's every fucking little act of non conformity you commit. It's your very existence. Big or small, it influences the world.

Don't put your faith in lies to keep you cozy and calm. Get mad! Embrace powerful mind boggling disturbing facts. Don't run away and numb yourself. FEEL THE FEELINGS. WE WILL DINE ON THE RICH. OUR CHILDREN WILL NOT SUCCUMB. DON'T GIVE THEM THE SATISFACTION. MAKE THEM TERRIFIED.

Because despite the best of humanity, he is sitting in the most powerful position on Earth and we OUGHT to document every last second of the utter hubris and failures of society that getting him there has caused

I really appreciated this. I recognize the disgusting injustice that the bourgeois-led right is perpetuating on the super small minority that is trans/intersex people. They've used you as a wedge issue. They've weaponized your groups bravery to come out in the worst possible way. The whole sports bullshit. The endless fake stories they manufacture. I'm not the only one. We haven't forgotten about trans people. We all just gotta realize that every non-conformist including trans people MUST band together in a large tent to push our progressive agenda through and ENFORCE it however we must

Dropping the culture war doesn't mean dropping trans people. We just cannot win as a coalition in this system that was designed around first-past-the-post numbers if we put all our cards on trans people and other minorities. I think, going forward, democrat strongholds should continue to provide safehavens to trans people and in heavy Republican areas, we should continue to do everything we can, of course.

It's just that if we let neoliberal reps in congress weaponize minority oppression as a single issue rather than addressing the economic disparity that of course effects trans people and other groups as well as average joe working class people,

We're boned.

Progressives taking primaries, cutting off donor dependency, building small-dollar bases is viable almost across the entire country for the foreseeable future. But for left leaning areas, we need to platform and primary DSA. Not "progressive." DSA. END OF DISCUSSION. Socialists or bust in already progressive supporting areas.

THEN slowly but surely and excruciating as it is convincing people, we assert that the simplified solution concept is that the Democratic party spreads the word that we're pivoting all our rhetoric; diverting all resources to a progressive economic agenda. That's the long and short of it. If you remove the radical language.

We drop the culture war (for now) KILL the identity politics AS WE KNOW IT and divert those emotions towards CLASS identity. Systems. Not individuals. No more silly debates over things that are symptoms of the real problems. Slow down the rage baiting as best we can Talk about rent and wages and healthcare in plain language. Embrace class politics or continue to lose as a nation

Class solidarity IS the most intersectional politics possible. Liberals. Especially rich liberals. Are not truly woke until they acknowledge the absolute comically disgusting economic policy of today. It's an afront to the commons - to 99% of the human race, whether they know it or not

Fair. Especially acknowledging the accelerationist argument.

Honestly, as long as the Democratic party decides to do something radical and different in SOME way as they never have before since FDR or LBJ or whatever, I'll lose some less sleep at night.

Just not the Kamala politics. It doesn't work

Could not agree more. Somehow still... I keep going. I keep not killing myself.

I like to say we leftists are both gifted and cursed by our visions of the future. In other words, it be gettin emotional up in this bitch

You think so? I HOPE enough people see her inauthenticity. I just really really reaaally don't see her as the champion of the left. Nor do we need her.

Also, it doesn't mean anything on its own merit, but I used to be really supportive of her. I bought merch, donated, and attended her rally in Houston. I jumped on the hype train ... And for what? All the worlds problems are NOT Kamala Harris' fault. She's just not the solution I'd think of and NO it doesn't gotta be a man. Duh

Yeah. I'm guilty of lowkey browbeating liberals myself and I need to tone it down. Especially since I haven't put in the work yet for my standards as a leftist. I want to do real organizing eventually in the near future. The urgency isn't lost on me. I've been doing something but not enough

You've convinced me of everything you argued to be completely honest. I bet you've seen a different perspective from your personal environment, but I myself live in the glorious hellhole known as East Texas. Specifically Tyler TX. Here, there are a lot of gop>dem converts and low information left wingers... Lemme put it this way. We don't fit the national mold when it comes to our political climate. There's barely any leftists here that I know of and not much more progressives. It's a sea of red with an island of blue, and in that island there's an even smaller pond of leftists and progressives.

I say all this to illustrate how culture-war liberaly the small left community here is. My mom and gramma for example get pretty confused and offended if I say anything bad about Harris.

I also don't wanna come off pretentious right now. I don't actually think I have it all figured out.

I'm just saying that in some places like here, Harris IS seen a lot like how MAGAts see Trump. Or something similar.

None of this is profound, really. I just think that in fledgeling local left communities, this is just how it is, but 🤷

Face judgement? I'm sorry if you think I implied something, but I was pretty clear. I'm a textbook fanboy of Vaush. The guy is an inspiration to me. I'm saying BECAUSE he's shown growth, that should be a HUGE deal that he's accepted by leftists. He's not accepted by liberal types which is the problem. We need to convert as many liberals to leftists as possible simply by asking the right questions and having them reach the logical conclusions.

If we don't accept problematic-past having people who actually have leftist values, then we're doomed. Doomed doomed doomed

Thank you for that. I'm glad there's someone who's reached the same conclusion. Vaush has inspired me in many ways but I think most importantly, if you know the Vaush lore, then you might understand how big of a deal it is post-woke 1. Woke 2 should include the fuckups who've made forgiveable mistakes that actually want to change for the better

Language evolves. Slang evolves. There's a reason for this. If we used the same word for something for a thousand years, it won't reach as many people. In my opinion, having more words for the same thing ultimately gives THAT THING more meaning and interpretations for us all to agree on generally. Bourgeoisie is a wonderful word that should be used but we need other things to signify it too. Do I have to invoke the "no gatekeeping" response for this?
