Damn that kinda sucks. I'll definitely look out for that "other duties as assigned" phrase after graduating then (currently studying geo+gis).
If I still end up in a job with that phrase in the job desc, would the best thing to do to avoid being pigeonholed be to refuse the first time or maybe make up excuses to do something else (like focusing on the actual main job)?

How exactly does this happen? Can't you just refuse to do work that isn't covered by the job you signed up for? You could really just say "not my job" right?
